About Travis Maike

I am currently a junior in the Professional Tennis Management Program at Ferris State University. At Ferris I am currently employed in an on-going internship at the Ferris State Racquet and Fitness Center. My first year I worked on the fitness and maintenance staff, there I cleaned the club, made sure the courts were vacuumed and the water jugs were clean with fresh water. My second year I worked on the front desk staff, there I helped customers with any questions they might have such as, which tennis racquet would fit their game the best, or which type of string would work best in their racquet. I also sold bus tickets for Indian Trails. My third year I am on the teaching staff, there I teach 5th and 6th graders the basic stroke production and introduce them to match play. I have went on two internships both summers of college. My first internship was the Ferris State Summer Tennis Camps. At that internship I learned the; basics of teaching, how to instruct a large group of children, and how to develop a lesson plan. My second Internship I worked at the Roaring Gap Club. There I learned how to present myself and communicate in a professional manner in a high-class community. I also learned how to set-up and run tournaments, how to manage clay tennis courts, and how to sell merchandise.
