About Trey Stilley

Motivated by earning our clients' trust, Trey Stilley joined the Stonegate Team in August 2020 with a keen interest in helping clients navigate life's financial challenges and complexities. Trey ascribes to a servant leader philosophy that is rooted in his passion for providing outstanding client service. The son of a small business owner, Trey has seen first-hand the challenges and benefits of entrepreneurship. Having watched his father work tirelessly to provide for a family of five, Trey quickly recognized the importance of financial discipline and the positive impact of sound financial decisions. Trey's experience managing private capital in the corporate finance arena has also shaped his perspectives around risk and return, driving home the importance of preserving the wealth that clients have worked so hard to create. Trey obtained his BS in Accounting with a concentration in Financial Analysis and his Master's in Accounting from NC State. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional and an actively licensed Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina.* Trey began his career in the assurance practice at a Big 4 accounting firm, where he served clients across various industries, including life sciences, mining, and technology. In 2016, Trey transitioned into asset management as an Investment Associate at a local private equity firm. During his time in private equity, he was responsible for underwriting investment opportunities and developing financial models to assist the team in making key investment decisions. Trey's academic and professional experiences guided him to Stonegate, where he combines his passion for personal client service with his affinity for financial analysis. Trey enjoys spending time with his wife, Ann Garrett, and his boys, Henry and Pierce. You might find him making a quick fishing trip down to North Carolina's coast in his free time. Trey also enjoys playing his Fender Stratocaster guitar, experiencing new restaurants, and relaxing on his back deck with family and friends.
