About Vanessa Howard

Dr. Vanessa Howard is a graduate of Maryville University with a doctorate of Educational Leadership and Master of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-St. LOUIS. Dr. Howard earned an administrative certification, special remedial certification Kg-12 from the University of Missouri-St. LOUIS and a Bachelor of Science from Harris Stowe State University. Dr. Howard began her career as a classroom teacher in the St Louis Public School District in 1997. In Dr. Howard became a Kindergarten in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. During her 15 years of service to the District included reading specialist, reading coach, instructional specialist, Summer Learning Academy site coordinator, Reading Recovery, teacher leader, and administrative intern. 2012-2013 Dr. Howard was selected by her peers as the teacher of the year for the Ferguson-Florissant School District. For the school year of 2014-2015 Dr. Howard worked for Jennings School District as the principal at Northview Elementary School. In 2015, Dr. Howard began working for the Hazelwood School District as a District ELA Coach. In this position, Dr. Howard supports 10 elementary schools in with the implementation of HSD reading curriculum and provides ongoing support Tier 3 reading specialist. Dr. Howard's experience in reading instruction and working with students of diverse abilities allows her to reach students where they are and help them read on grade level or above. Dr. Howard is available for keynote speaking, conferences (nationwide, regional, state, and local).
