Background

About Vasilis Androulakis

I develop software stack and custom GUIs for autonomous vehicles and robots deployed in underground mines, disaster sites, and space informatics. I have 6+ years of experience as a principal software developer for multi-million research projects in US universities. I hold a PhD in Mining Engineering with a specialization in development of autonomous vehicles. My focus lies on software development for robotics agents that can be deployed in underground mines and harsh working environments. As a researcher and a self-taught scientific programmer, my day-to-day tasks involve development of UGV software stack, custom UI development, data analytics for path-planning and mine ventilation, publishing research articles, preparing project reports, and supervising graduate students. Some of my software development projects so far include- MATLAB library for 2-D geostatistical simulations and recreation of missing data (BSc)- C# software stack and GUI for a LiDAR-based navigation of autonomous shuttle car in underground coal mines (PhD & 1st postdoc)- ROS/Qt GUI and SLAM-based navigation for a UGV agent to assist with mine search and rescue operations (2nd postdoc and research professor position)- Computer vision application for tide-level reading through Raspberry Pi data collection and python based visual pattern detection. I welcome the opportunity to network with other engineers and research professionals to exchange ideas about developing smart systems that can solve practical problems in occupational environments.
