About Verity Chegar

I am a member of the International Sustainability Standards Board. Before joining the ISSB, I held leadership positions in standard setting, investing, and stewardship with asset owner and asset manager perspectives. As Co-Vice Chair of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, I oversaw the development and maintenance of SASB’s industry-based standards, which are now maintained by the ISSB. At California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), I led the pension fund’s policy engagement on sustainable investment and stewardship issues and managed the fund’s work to reach its net zero ambition. At BlackRock, I directed sustainability integration into public and private investment processes, portfolio company engagement and proxy voting activities. Previously I did sustainability research and U.S. equity portfolio management. All views expressed are my own.
