About Vicky Murphy

Vicky is a seasoned senior health and social care professional a QSW with over 27 years’ experience in Local government in a wide variety of roles. She was born in Doncaster and grew up in Wakefield, West Yorkshire starting her career in Adults social work in areas of deprivation, working on reducing inequalities for families. Vicky joined the London Borough of Haringey in April 2023 as Service Director and Deputy Director of Adults, Health and Communities directorate and is a determined advocate for her Borough by delivering and improving services whilst securing investment to build on the significant achievements made in adult social care. As one of the most diverse boroughs in Britain, Vicky has developed close and positive relationships with public, private and voluntary sectors within the Haringey Borough. Vicky has a proven reputation for delivering strong leadership and has experience working at a senior level in a range of demanding ‘people services’ positions over 8 years with diverse local authority employers, including Cornwall, North Lincolnshire and Stockport. She has played a major role in transformation and change whilst at Haringey, which have developed sustained improvements in Adult Social Care with a track record of improvement, best value, and successful budget delivery whilst implementing significant investment projects. Vicky is the Joint Chair of The National Care and Justice Board, reporting to the Justice Secretary and is a member of the National Health and Social Care Partnership Board. Vicky is also a strong system leader with a belief in a co-production approach to enable resilient communities and more sustainable public services. During a distinguished career as a local government senior manager, Vicky has worked with a significant number of councillors, learning much about the ingredients of a great partnership between officers and members based on a shared understanding of roles and mutual respect. Her view is that effective governance lies at the heart of this, and helps organisations get the most out of their whole teams.
