About Victor Schorr

I am currently completing my Professional Master of Educational Leadership at Queen's University, and in my 10th year of teaching. I am working at Renert School, where I teach several different subjects and across multiple divisions. I am very passionate about teaching and believe that the teacher serves as a role model in the classroom, and hope that my love of learning and my many experiences will enable me to inspire and encourage students. I strongly believe that "teachers plant seeds of knowledge that grow forever," and it is my hope that I will be able to inspire my students. As a future Vice-Principal and eventually Principal, my goals are to create a positive learning environment, one where the emphasis is on student learning and student involvement. It is my hope that I will be able to develop a classroom in which each student feels respected and valued. To me teaching is really my opportunity to help make a difference in each student’s life. It is my chance to help turn students’ academic life around and to help them stay on the right track. This is a career where I can be an excellent role model and not only demonstrate to the students the importance of getting an education, but emphasize how privileged they are to have the opportunity to do so. Reaching the students by making subject matters more directly relevant is an area that I am passionate about, and as idealistic and naive as it may sound, it is ultimately my goal to teach students how to learn and to think critically. While I have many different interests, among the more important of these is my love of travel, languages, health and fitness, and reading. Although I am interested in a wide range of subject matters and genres, I am currently focused primarily on teaching and learning.I feel that my passion for teaching, my love of learning, and my dedication to fostering a positive learning environment will enable me to make a difference in my students’ lives.
