About Vincent Chian

I spent over a decade navigating a world far from education—psychiatry, to be precise. I was a Psychiatry Registrar, and while the work was meaningful, I felt like something was missing. In 2009, I made a leap that would change my life forever—I stepped into the world of education. The journey wasn’t smooth. There was no guidebook for transitioning from a medical career to education leadership, but that’s where my background helped me most. Having worked with people’s mental well-being, I knew that schools had to focus on more than just grades. Well-being couldn’t be an afterthought or a reactive measure. It had to be central, and it had to be proactive. Now, 14 years later, I’m the Principal of Fairview International School Malaysia, and we’re not just any school. We’ve been ranked the top IB school in Malaysia and in the top 100 IB schools worldwide for four consecutive years. That didn’t happen by accident. I introduced programs like Toolbox, a skill-development initiative that earned us international recognition. It’s all part of my mission to ensure students aren’t just exam-ready, but life-ready. But my work doesn’t stop at Fairview. I coach for EO Accelerator, consult for Eduspaze, and speak at international conferences like EduTech Asia and KSI Education Summits. Whether it’s about educational technology or how we reshape the future of learning, I believe in pushing the boundaries of what education can achieve. My journey in education is far from over, and I continue to share my insights through my LinkedIn blog,"Learning with a Purpose."
