About William D. Coggio

I am the Applications and Technology Development Manager for the Performance Chemicals Division of NatureWorks LLC of Minnetonka, MN. Along with my team, we are responsible for the development of a new application space for NatureWorks LLC in the CASE market segments. We work to understand the performance and value of lactide and lactide derivatives as a key formulation component in polyesters, polyurethanes and other resins used in coating and adhesive applications. I've held prior positions as the Global Applications Manager for BioAmber, Applications Lead for Cabot Corporation in Billerica, MA and Senior Research Specialist with 3M for 21 years. I have a PhD in chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and a proven track record of development and commercialization of technologies utilizing polymeric materials in adhesives, composites and coating applications. I am passionate about high performance technologies and bringing these new technologies to market. I strongly believe that successful technology transfer and commercial success takes a team, time and agility to align the technology with the desired product features and market opportunity. In my experience it takes diverse technology platforms to truly innovate new products which bring performance to the application, value to the customer and return on investment. I hold at least 25 US patents and have given numerous conference lectures and technical seminars.
