About Willie Colon

How was a former program director at Tremont community council, I lead multiple programs from summer youth employment program, after school Tutoring program, evening recreation program and youth development program. I also lead the San Miguel residence HIV SRO HDFC, As a residence manager I also lead the substance abuse and HIV counseling and referral program. Has a lead community organizer I also assisted in community programs such as food pantries, rental and utilities assistance and job referrals. I was also an access-a-ride BUs operator that later became an elected union officer for the transport workers union local 100. As a union officer and organizer I Negotiated contracts for union members in the Paratransit and school bus industry, I also lead several organizing campaigns to acquire new membership into our local. During my tenure I also campaigned against Membership decertification and rogue union raids very successfully. During my late years I joined the Progressive Action movement and became its field and labor strategist organizing multiple rallies and was a spokes person for media interviews.
