About Yi-Chieh Chen

I currently serve as a Project Manager/Junior Research Fellow at the Stockholm Center for Research and Innovation Security (SCRIS) and Stockholm Taiwan Center (STC) in the Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP). My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Culture from National Chengchi University in Taiwan and a master's degree in Global Studies focusing on migration studies from Gothenburg University in Sweden. My research interests revolve around East Asian affairs, soft power, and technology. The focus areas encompass Taiwan-Europe relations, cross-strait relations, sports diplomacy, and the semiconductor industry. Having grown up in Taiwan, lived briefly in the Middle East, and currently residing and working in Sweden, I am deeply fascinated by the interplay of different cultures. My curiosity centers on understanding how individuals or states perceive specific issues based on their experiences and cultural backgrounds. I am particularly interested in bridging the gaps between these diverse perspectives. Driven by a passion for exploring global power dynamics, soft power, and varied perceptions of the world, my commitment as a researcher is to present different angles and perspectives on international affairs. In doing so, I aspire to promote equality and peace in our interconnected and globalized world.
