About Youki Terada

I am Edutopia's Research and Standards Editor. I ensure that Edutopia remains a trusted source of information for educators, and that our research coverage is up-to-date with high-quality, relevant research. I work with our editorial team to incorporate facts and research into our featured articles. I vet schools for our "Schools That Work" video series, which highlights successful schools in the U.S. and around the world. I also work with our social media team to develop engaging content for our social media platforms. Prior to being a Research and Standards Editor, I was a Researcher for the Schools That Work video series where I vetted schools for coverage. I analyzed school data, interviewed faculty, and wrote production briefs that summarized school information for the video team. In addition, I was also on Edutopia's Social Media team, where I monitored our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest) on a daily basis. I managed our Google Plus and Pinterest pages, posting daily content, building community, and curating high-quality educational content. Previously I was a researcher for the Lawrence Hall of Science at U.C. Berkeley, where I studied the connections between science learning at home and school. I was also a cataloger for the Science and Math Informal Learning Educators (SMILE) digital library, which is a collection of K-12 STEM activities: http://howtosmile.org I have a B.A. in Sociology and a M.A. in Education, both from U.C. Berkeley. When I was an undergraduate/graduate student, I conducted research on STEM education, digital libraries, and literacy.
