About Yuli Kwan

In 2018, Yuli Kwan capitalized on her experience in the Indonesian coal mining and palm oil business to become the founder and CEO of PT AVA Group. The group is a multi-disciplinary organization involved in infrastructure investment, transhipment, biomass processing and energy production. It includes various subsidiaries that had been stand alone companies owned by Ms Kwan or her family. A changemaker with the drive to break boundaries, her vision for the company is to apply science to harness the power of the earth in a different way to leave a better environment for the next generation. Yuli is a hands-on second generation business owner. She is comfortable in any role, from operating mining equipment to negotiating business deals in the boardroom. Her ground-up, “all hands on deck” approach advanced her family business, PT Pipit Mutiara Jaya, significantly, expanding its clientele to Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and China. She brings drive, energy and fresh perspective to the boardrooms of PT Pipit Mutiara Jaya and PT Ava Group. Her expertise in negotiating, building high performance teams and knowledge of the natural resources and palm oil industries, provide immense value to the boards she serves on. Her passions include poverty elevation, microfinancing, oceans protection, and supporting research and start-ups. Most recently, she was involved in a school rebuilding effort following the Sulawesi Tsunami in Lombok Indonesia, where she worked with the authorities to provide victims with food, shelter and clean water. Her spirit of adventure has brought her to the summits Pico de Orizaba, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Rainier because ain’t no mountain high enough. She also enjoys diving, flying, and the arts.
