About Zach McCarthy

I'm located in the Greater Toronto Area working with HITE Engineering Corporation as a consultant in their Industrial Department. My role is to provide expertise to our clients through a variety of industrial projects. The core of my work centers around industrial safety as it relates to safety control systems, ensuring that the safety architecture of any control system is adequately designed for the expected hazards. I am well acquainted with the requirements of the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code, and a variety of NFPA standards involving flammable/combustible liquids and easily ignitable dusts. I frequently work with clients to help assess their systems to the relevant standards and provisions. I have been involved in several risk assessments as both a facilitator and scribe for a variety of different styles of risk assessment (HAZOP, HAZID, What-if, etc.). My work experience is rooted in industrial electrical design and project management, where I am able to apply my safety background to aid clients in discovering compliant solutions for complex systems that can often appear impossible to guard. Outside of work I can be found outdoors somewhere around Ontario, whether I'm hiking, snowboarding, or being a tourist in the city I now call home.
