Tower Hamlets Mediation Project

Tower Hamlets Mediation Project (THMP) is an award-winning community mediation service between Reed Smith, a major international law firm, and Irene Grindell Resolution Consultancy Ltd. Since its inception in 2016, THMP provides a free mediation service to all residents in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets where any resident may ask for help. The Project is supported by volunteer community mediators and interpreters from the borough of Tower Hamlets as well as by a diverse team of London mediators from workplace and commercial mediation backgrounds. The Project aims to bring mediation back to the borough and help its residents in the resolution of neighbourhood conflicts. We are committed to providing a comprehensive and effective mediation process, helping to resolve some challenging conflicts between neighbours, especially in difficult times like the past couple of years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and to the ever-increasing costs of living. Our community mediation service is completely free, confidential and available to all Tower Hamlets residents experiencing neighbourhood conflict. THMP has over 50 volunteers from all walks of life who want to improve the quality of life in Tower Hamlets. THMP mediators work in pairs and all our services are currently provided in a virtual environment so people don’t need to meet with their neighbours face-to-face. THMP also takes referrals, including from the police, doctor’s surgeries or housing organisations, our only criteria is that our clients live in Tower Hamlets. Over the years, we have made a difference to a number of Tower Hamlets residents and our Project was one of the winners at the 2018 National Mediation Awards.
