Northumbrian Universities' Air Squadron
A Volunteer Reserve unit of the Royal Air Force which provides basic flying training, adventurous training and personal development skills to undergraduate students of the University of Durham, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumbria University, Sunderland University and Teesside University. The idea behind all University Air Squadrons is to allow potential RAF officers to experience life in service and to allow them to decide whether they are suited to it. There is no obligation to join up, unless a bursary is successfully applied for. NUAS is parented by RAF Leeming where it flies Grob Tutor aircraft. NUAS Town Headquarters (THQ) are in Newcastle upon Tyne. Training nights are held on Tuesday evenings at NUAS THQ, and are compulsory for Officer Cadets. Christmas, Easter and Summer Training periods, each a week long, are held at RAF Leeming to further the development of members through flying, adventurous training, sport and force development.

At the RFCA we are responsible for the recruitment and wellbeing of the region’s Reserve Forces and Cadets, promoting the interests of the Armed Forces and building relationships with the local community and employers. For information about our organisation, go to https://linktr.ee/rfcayh The Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (RFCA) for Yorkshire & The Humber is an independent, community-based organisation with the responsibility of advising and assisting the Defence Council on issues concerning the 2,970 reservists and more than cadets in the region. With its headquarters in York, the RFCA helps to promote and support the Reserve Forces and Cadets across the region, and by harnessing the extensive knowledge and experience of its membership, works to build relationships and increase understanding between military and civilian communities. The RFCA has a wide remit and day-to-day responsibilities can range from providing support to reservists’ employers, managing and maintaining the 150 reservist and cadet sites in the region, recruiting adult cadet instructors and liaising with a wide range of local communities, MPs and councils.

Royal Marines

Sandhurst Trust
The Sandhurst Trust is the official charity and alumni community of the the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Originally established in 2003 (then as the Sandhurst Foundation), the Sandhurst Trust was re-launched in 2014 with a re-articulated focus on supporting the Academy especially through promoting esprit de corps, sustaining ethos and preserving heritage and promoting and promulgating the Army’s approach to leadership. Its programme of ‘leadership encounters’ introduce to the Academy alternative and complimentary perspectives on leadership, and provide opportunities for interaction between the Academy, its alumni and other leadership-focused organisations. Its events aim to foster an enduring sense of belonging and connection among the Sandhurst Group’s alumni, both UK and overseas, Regular and Reserve and including the UOTCs. Through conferences and the publication of occasional papers it will assist the Academy’s academic departments in reaching a wider audience and thereby enhance the Academy’s reputation as a centre of academic excellence it its fields.

South East Reserve Forces' & Cadets' Association
South East Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (SE RFCA) is one of 13 RFCAs UK-wide, SERFCA is a Ministry of Defence (MOD) Crown body, responsible to the Defence Council, but separate from military chains-of-command. SE RFCA gives support to the Reserve Forces and Cadets from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force in the Counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, East and West Sussex. The majority of the Association comprises volunteers, presided over by the Lord-Lieutenant of each County, ranging from high-ranking serving and retired military Officers, through local Councillors to enthusiastic locals, with no military experience, but with a will to support the Armed Forces and Cadets; so it can be seen that the Association has close links with the Community because it is part of that Community. In short, the main roles of SERFCA are: Managing the volunteer estate (Reserve, Cadet and Training Centres) through building new Centres, maintaining current Centres to the required legal standard and ensuring that all sites are kept in good condition, fit for purpose and secure. We aim to provide an attractive environment in which to recruit, train and refresh the spirit of our volunteers. Through our professionally qualified staff, we are responsible for the upkeep of some 29 tri-service reserve forces’ sites and 225 cadet centres on behalf of the MOD. Encouraging support for the Reserves and Cadets through engagement events, briefings, awards evenings, social media and other publicity, allowing us to actively inform, influence, engage and create a positive but lasting change with gatekeepers and others who hold influence within their county. This includes giving support to, in particular, Reservists by engaging with Employers and supporting Employers of Reservists who seek more information or who have Reservist Employees deployed on operations.

Tickets For Troops
Tickets For Troops (ticketsfortroops.org.uk) was set up in 2009 to recognise the brave servicemen and women who spend months away from their families, need to be available to serve at short notice and put their lives on the line for our country. They recognise the troops’ commitment, drive and dedication by offering them, on behalf of their donors, tickets to events which they can share with their loved ones, as a small acknowledgement of the work they do. Tickets For Troops has allocated over tickets to our nation’s heroes in the last five years demonstrating the enormous support and respect our UK sports, music, theatre and entertainment industries have for our military men and women. Troops are eligible to sign up if they are currently serving or have been medically discharged since 2001. The charity has over military members.

In particular HighGround will: 1. Provide a Horticultural Therapy service at Headley Court for Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) patients as part of the Defence Recovery Capability and will move to the new Defence National Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall in 2018 when Headley Court closes. Develop Rural Weeks for Service Leavers, Reservists and Veterans to provide access to expert advice about land-based jobs, careers and vocational opportunities. Provide ongoing formal and informal support for HighGround beneficiaries as they continue their journey through transition. Collect an evidence base to increase awareness of transition challenges, needs and outcomes which will inform the development of appropriate services. Work with partners, which is at the core of HighGround’s vision, to develop relationships with further education, work experience, training and employment providers in the land-based sector. HighGround will work closely with other Service Charities to develop resources for this unique client group.
