Northern Ontario Aspen Collective
ASPEN (Anti-carceral Substance use Peer-led Education Network) is a queer, MAD, neurodivergent youth-led initiative based in Sudbury, but open to all Northern Ontario youth through virtual and IRL peer spaces. We’re ND-informed, harm reduction-focused, and rooted in mutual aid, autonomy, care, and lived/living experience. We exist because Ontario's systems harm young people. Especially neurodivergent youth and minors who use substances. ASPEN supports all altered states and ways of being, including dissociation, mania, overstimulation, executive dysfunction, burnout, and beyond. We reject carceral care, forced treatment, pathologizing language, and age-based gatekeeping. Our model is built on consent, relationship, and self-determination. We believe youth are the experts in their own lives—and they deserve support that reflects that. This is liberatory wellness. This is community care. This is ours.
