A safe place filled with individuals in long term recovery offering hope that recovery is not only possible, but probable with the proper supports in place. A safe place to come to when you or a loved one needs to learn more about recovery and available resources. FAVOR -Laurel Highlands, mission is: Assisting individuals, families, and communities in building sustainable recovery capital. We exist to serve as a vital backbone of support across the Laurel Highlands region that will result in empowered residents and stronger communities. The establishment of FAVOR -Laurel Highland’s recovery center marks a significant milestone in our community’s efforts to support individuals in recovery. FAVOR -Laurel Highlands is fully peer-run and governed, meaning all employees and board majority are in recovery. Our organization will serve as a hub for people in need of assistance, offering a variety of services, including: Support group meetings Educational workshops Wellness and self-care programs Peer mentoring and coaching Advocacy for recovery-related policies Community outreach and events The recovery community center would not be possible without support of our collective partners at Behavioral Health of Cambria County and Magellan Health. Fight Foundation
Fight Foundation is a non-profit mixed martial arts studio serving kids in our community to learn how to defend themselves in a unsafe situation. Our mission is to teach self defense which in return builds confidence, awareness, physical fitness and leadership. In 2021, we have been able to give 15 children in our community free mixed martial arts lessons. Usually the people that come into our studio have issues at school with bullying or lack self esteem due to situations at home. We have seen major improvements in confidence levels in our students and want to keep giving in our community.

We do this through four focus areas: 1) HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE: Welcomers provide food, clothing and connect to health services and community groups. 2) WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT: Mentors help our community navigate the system to obtain employment through work permit assistance, training, resume prep, and work opportunities. 3) AFFORDABLE HOUSING: Certified Ambassadors assist New Yorkers in obtaining affordable housing (paying less than 30% of income) through workshops, in-person and online support. 4) COMMUNITY BUILDING: Leaders coordinate sports teams, affinity groups, and recreational/cultural events, uniting us in pursuing self-actualization. WHO WE ARE Our team is majority immigrant, many Venezuelans and South Americans who risked their lives to escape persecution and difficult conditions in their home countries. The intimate, first-hand understanding of our community's needs sets us apart in providing effective short-term assistance and building long-term solutions. Our focus on relationship-building creates a strong organization that can contribute significantly to resolving struggles our city faces. Our values are Respect, Solidarity, and Leadership. We keep empathy and kindness at the forefront with each individual we come into contact with. We also equip our team with the technical and power skills necessary to create positive impact. Our mission is to create a strong, connected community - free from poverty, isolation and injustice, where every person has access to food, housing, social and economic participation, lifelong learning and support. We’re a member of Learn Local - a network of over 300 not-for-profit organisations across Victoria offering adult community education and training to people from all walks of life. We are one in over 400 Neighbourhood Houses located throughout Victoria. Glen Park opens its doors to approximately 800 people per week, provides programmed services to an average of 156 people per week and the Centre is used by the community at least 48 hours per week. Glen Park is home to a successful registered Social Enterprise cafe; Cafe on the Park, offering delicious meals, catering, training and volunteering opportunities. More importantly, Cafe on the Park is the driving force behind our Emergency Relief Program; P.O.W.E.R and facilitates the distribution of 1250kgs of food per month to some of our most vulnerable Victorians.
