Umigomi Enrichment Project
Our story began when two former zoo keepers, driven by a shared passion for animal welfare and conservation, relocated to Japan after one began a new career with the U.S. Air Force. Heartbroken by the amount of coastal pollution, they saw an opportunity to make a difference. What started as a simple effort to clean beaches in Aomori Prefecture soon evolved into transforming discarded fishing gear into enrichment tools for animals in human care. From those early days on Japan’s coastline, our grassroots project has grown into a U.S-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a global mission: improving animal welfare, reducing ocean pollution, and inspiring communities to care for the planet. We work with local organizations and youth to take hands-on action for the environment, transforming derelict fishing gear into enrichment tools that improve the lives of animals in human care and promote ocean conservation worldwide. Through partnerships with groups like the Girl Scouts, we’ve removed thousands of pounds of plastic waste from the beaches of Northern Honshu and repurposed it into enrichment devices used by zoos, wildlife rescues, and animal care facilities across the United States. Our work has helped to enhance the welfare of species such as alligators, otters, snow leopards, bears, zebras, flamingos, lemurs, domestic dogs, and so many more. We’re always looking to collaborate with organizations, educators, and animal care professionals who share our commitment to sustainability and compassion.

Berrien County Conservation District
Berrien County Conservation District is a local unit of government and a political subdivision of the State of Michigan. The District's authorities, powers, and structure are contained in Michigan Conservation District Law. Berrien Conservation District comprises all of Berrien County and was formed in 2006 with the merging of the Galien River and St. Joseph River Conservation Districts that were established in the 1940's. Our goal is to conserve and protect land, air, water, and wildlife today for future generations.We are board-driven and monthly board meetings occur on the second Monday of each month at 12pm; exceptions occur when holidays land on a Monday. Center For Conservation Excellence Foundation
The Center instructs on key concepts of conservation law to strengthen the professional conservation community, preparing them to contribute in their fields in line with the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, public trust stewardship in state wildlife management, and beyond. There have been few programs and projects undertaken to create awareness for wildlife law and policy with the mission of protecting Americans’ rights to hunt and fish. Though strong in intention, the scalability has been challenging when addressing this need for protecting modern conservation efforts, hunting heritage, and wildlife law. Additionally, the animal rights movement has been at large since the early and special interest groups are pushing their agenda of "legal personhood" for animals at an alarming and well-funded rate. With support from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies, National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association’s Hunter Leadership Forum, and more, the Center is standing up to threats against modern conservation efforts and creating better access and quality of conservation and wildlife law education in America's law colleges. While the Center currently offers courses in a handful of law schools and is continuously offering Continuing Legal Education seminars across the country, we won’t settle with good enough! The Center continues to place more courses and seminars, as well as connect more students and graduates with state agencies, non-profit organizations, and other conservation positions.

Glades Boys Python Adventures
The Everglades have always been The Glades Boys' playground. Growing up very close to each other, we spent countless days and nights fishing, hunting, and exploring the vastness of the 'glades. But these weren't leisurely trips – we were driven by a restless spirit and a thirst for knowledge. As avid hunters and lifelong outdoorsmen, we'd talk to biologists, researchers, anyone who could teach us more about this unique ecosystem. Then came the pythons. As these invasive giants disrupted the balance of the Everglades, The Glades Boys realized their skills had a new purpose. What started as a few hunts quickly became a mission. Through perseverance, grit, and a hefty dose of competition, we have honed our python removal techniques. Records fell – first big catches, then multiple state records, including the 6th longest python caught in Florida. With each passing year, the Glades Boys perfected their craft, and in the summer of 2023, we struck gold with our capture of the longest Burmese python recorded in history (19 ft). It's not about the records for us, though. It's about protecting the wild heart of our home, inspiring others, and proving that adventure and conservation go hand-in-hand.

Students can deepen their experience at the Wahoo Bay Ocean Sciences & Conservation Lab, housed at Florida Atlantic University’s A.D. Henderson Campus. The lab involves students in studying marine pollutants, such as microplastics, and developing conservation strategies. Wahoo Bay’s Online Educational Portal extends its reach globally, offering live data from underwater sensors, real-time environmental monitoring, virtual curriculum tools, and livestream access to its 360-degree self-cleaning underwater camera. In partnership with Florida Atlantic University, Wahoo Bay creates a unique marine research environment. One highlight is the use of SEAHIVES—eco-friendly, hexagonal concrete structures that reduce shoreline erosion, enhance marine habitats, and provide educational snorkel trails for visitors and researchers.
