Reproplast Collective Epr Scheme
The Reproplast Collective Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme was established by the packaging producers of the Newmantle Group – in their united, unwavering commitment and drive to lead a truly circular economy for post-consumer rigid polyolefin packaging by converting it into a high-value commodity. Extended Producer Responsibility, or EPR, is a global shift in policy under which producers are responsible for collecting and recycling a stipulated percentage of the packaging it produces. As leading producers of rigid polyolefin-based packaging for leading consumer brands in South Africa, our producers are responsible, compliant and ready for the challenge. In compliance with DFFE Regulations, we have formalised the Reproplast Collective EPR Scheme, which has been operational since 5 November 2021. The Reproplast Collective EPR Scheme will, through the direct investment of each producer of their time and resources, reduce the amount of post-consumer rigid polyolefin packaging in the environment and maximise recycling and production efficiency. Our purpose is to create a sustainable world through positive social, environmental and economic upliftment, now and for generations to come.

Terraclim
Climate projections for the future suggest favourable conditions for some agricultural producing regions, but challenging conditions for others. For instance, temperature increases are likely to shift plant phenology, ripening and harvest dates, and potentially affect quality and yield. The commercial value of accurate and up-to-date climate data emerged from feedback received in response to a series of demonstrations to the wine and fruit industries. TerraClim combines high resolution terrain data with weather station data (sourced from several data providers) to model climatic conditions within an orchard or vineyard. The TerraClim climate database allows for dynamic mapping, statistical interrogation, data mining, machine learning and climate change analysis over time and space. Seasonal management is possible today with the new decision making tool TerraClim, that provides climate and terrain information to farm and field level to improve long and short term decision making in the context of climate change specific to a region and cultivar specific physiology.
