Hellenic Statistical Authority Elstat
The Hellenic Statistical Authority (Greek: Ελληνική Στατιστική Αρχή), known by its acronym ELSTAT (Greek: ΕΛΣΤΑΤ), is the national statistical service of Greece. The purpose of ELSTAT is to produce, on a regular basis, official statistics, as well as to conduct statistical surveys which- cover all the fields of activity of the public and private sector- underpin the processes for decision making, policy drawing and evaluating the policies of the Government and the public administrations and services (evaluation indicators)- are submitted to international agencies in compliance with the obligations of the country and concern the general public or specific categories of users of statistics in Greece and abroad In accordance with its establishing law, ELSTAT is an independent authority and it is not subject to the control of any governmental bodies or other administrative authority. Its operation is subject to the control of the Hellenic Parliament. ELSTAT represents Greece as the “National Statistical Institute” in accordance with paragraph 1 of article 5 of the Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 in the services of the European Union and in any other competent international organisation. It cooperates with the European Statistical Office – Eurostat and the other services of the European Commission, the National Statistical Institutes of the other Member States, the national authorities and other international agencies and organisations on statistical issues. ELSTAT also cooperates with public and private agencies in Greece or abroad, such as educational institutions, research centers and non-profit organisations for the promotion of scientific research for statistical issues, the harmonization of methodology and the implementation of the statistical principles of the Hellenic and European Statistical Systems.

OPEKEPE is the Greek Payment Authority of Common Agricultural Policy (C.A.P.) Aid Schemes. It is a private legal entity operating since 2001 for the public interest. OPEKEPE is supervised by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. OPEKEPE's main task is the control and payment of beneficiaries, according to European and national Laws. Every year almost beneficiaries benefit approximately 3 billion, from community subsidies. Region of Central Macedonia (RCM) is the largest region in Greece and its capital, Thessaloniki, is the second largest city in Greece in terms of population. The region has a population of inhabitants, representing 17 percent of the country’s population and produces 17 percent of the GDP (second higher contribution after 37,7% of the region of Attica). Municipality Of Katerini
The Municipality follows the operational breakdown structure under the relevant legislative framework, and has special units/municipal enterprises that support poverty, social inclusion and immigrants. These are the Department of Social welfare, Education and Equality, the Organization of Education, Culture, Sports and Social Provision and the Municipal Enterprise of Public Benefit. The Municipality of Katerini has implemented several projects related to social support, social infrastructures, environment, rural development, culture and school buildings financed by the NSRF (Greek Operational Programmes) and the other similar Greek and European funding Programmes. Its Public Tenders Office has managed large infrastructure projects in the past (more than 60 M€ in the last decade). The Municipality of Katerini (MUKA) has more than inhabitants, producing about tn of MSW each year. Also more than people visit the municipality in annual bases mostly in the beautiful sea coast. The Municipality itself is well organized, with a Europeans Programmes Office, a Public Tenders Office and an Environmental and Wastes Management Office, where its annual budget is well balanced and it is considered an economical viable municipality. MUKA is contracted with all the major wastes’ management independent authorities for recycling operating at this moment in Greece. The Municipality also owns and operates a sanitary landfill where in March 2016 the Local Wastes Management Scheme (LWMS) was presented to the public. Main pillars of the LWMS are source separation schemes and composting units for the treatment of the various organic wastes.
