The University of Akureyri (Háskólinn á Akureyri) is located in North Iceland and has served Akureyri and its rural surrounding since 1987. The University has built a reputation for academic excellence and good industrial relations. Located in the capital of North Iceland, Akureyri, the University has been instrumental in the economic growth of the region and is central in the planning for a future as a knowledge based society. The University of Akureyri prepares students for a wide range of opportunities in both the private and the public sectors. Education offered by the University aims at providing its graduates with specific skills and knowledge of scientific methods as well as theoretical skills that will enable them to improve their qualifications. Education and research are closely linked to achieve this, first and foremost by assigning equal importance to them in the daily work of the academic and scientific staff and whenever possible course work is based on research. The University was founded in September 1987, by establishing two Faculties, in Health Sciences and in Industrial Management. Gest Gender Equality Studies And Training Programme
Gender Equality Studies and Training (GRO GEST) is a multidisciplinary postgraduate diploma programme aimed at advancing gender equality and social justice in low/middle income, conflict and post-conflict countries. GEST was established in January 2009 through an agreement between the University of Iceland and the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The GEST programme was piloted from 2009 to 2013, with the goal of becoming accredited as a part of the United Nations University (UNU). GEST operated as UNU-GEST between 2013-2019, and as of 1 January 2020, GEST joined the other three Icelandic former UNU programmes (Fisheries Training Programme, Geothermal Training Programme and Land Restoration Training Programme) in GRÓ - Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Societal Change, a category 2 centre under the auspices of UNESCO.

The University Centre of the Westfjords is a small higher educational organization, which was established in 2005 and began operations in January 2006. The University Centre itself employs an average of six people, plus teachers employed freelance. The University Centre building is home to more than 50 people in research, teaching and services in various organizations and companies. The University Centre is a distance learning centre that serves about 100 distance learning students; it operates two international master’s programs: Coastal and Marine Management as well as Coastal Communities and Regional Development. Each year roughly 20 students are accepted into each master's program. The University Centre also offers a small individualised program of study at the master’s level in Marine Innovation. A variety of summer courses is also offered at the University Centre. Through distance learning, Westfjords residents can access education without having to move away from home. The University Centre provides distance learning students with facilities for teleconferencing, group work facilities and reading rooms. There tend to be about 100 distance learning students per year. Furthermore, the University Centre offers several summer courses in the Westfjords, including tailor-made courses for national and international field schools. The University Centre of the Westfjords is in partnership with various international cooperative ventures, including the University of the Arctic, and has participated in projects with the Nordic Council and the European Union. The University Centre of the Westfjords emphasis high standards and follows the Bologna Process for European university requirements, in collaboration with national and foreign universities. The faculty and staff endeavour to provide an exceptional service to both students and researchers in and outside the Westfjords.

Ntv Skólinn
Saga skólans í stuttu máli Nýi tölvu- og viðskiptaskólinn (NTV) hóf starfsemi sína í október 1996. Stofnendur voru bræðurnir Jón Vignir og Sigurður Karlssynir. Í byrjun var skólinn að Hólshrauni í Hafnarfirði og síðar einnig í Hlíðarsmára í Kópavogi. Um mitt ár 2003 var ákvörðun tekin um að færa starfsemi skólans undir eitt þak í Hlíðarsmárann og stækka skólann þar um 4 kennslustofur. Í dag eru kennslustofur skólans 7, auk aðstöðu fyrir nemendur og starfsfólk. Viðurkenndur fræðsluaðili NTV er viðurkenndur af Menntamála-og menningarmálaráðuneytinu sem fræðsluaðili og gefur nám hjá NTV einingar til stúdentsprófs. Góð reynsla nemenda NTV hefur ætíð haft það orðspor á sér að vera vinalegur og heimilislegur skóli. Nemendur hafa oft orð á að þeim líði vel í skólanum. Við vitum að flestir okkar nýnemendur koma vegna góðs umtals fyrrverandi nemenda. Í skoðanakönnun hjá nemendum árið 2017, sögðust 98% mæla með skólanum við þriðja aðila. Við erum meðvituð um þetta og er skólanum mjög mikilvægt að viðhalda því þægilega og persónulega viðmóti sem skólinn er þekktur fyrir.

Gró Geothermal Training Programme Under The Auspices Of Unesco
The GRÓ Geothermal Training Programme (GRÓ GTP) is a postgraduate training programme, aiming at assisting developing countries in capacity building within geothermal exploration and development. The Programme consists of Fellowships, MSc and PhD Scholarships, and Short Courses for practicing professionals from developing and transitional countries with significant geothermal potential. GRÓ GTP’s objectives are to strengthen capacities by providing excellence in training, education, and research opportunities, by facilitating the professional growth of geothermal professionals and by placing cooperation, capacity building, knowledge-sharing, and research at the forefront of its mission. Through cooperation with its extensive network of partners, GRÓ GTP aims to further Iceland's contribution to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. GRÓ GTP operates under the umbrella of GRÓ: Centre for Capacity Development – Sustainability and Societal Change which is under the auspices of UNESCO. The Programme was previously known as United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP).

Bifröst University
Bifröst University was founded in Reykjavík in 1918 on the model of Ruskin College, Oxford, under the name Samvinnuskólinn or the Cooperative College. Its role then, as now, was to educate leaders for business and society. The school was moved to Bifröst in Borgarfjörður in 1955. Bifröst has been accredited by Iceland's Ministry of Education as a university since 1988. Originally a business school, Bifröst began to offer degrees in law in 2002, in social science in 2005, and is planning further expansion. Reflecting these changes, its name was changed to Bifröst University in 2006. Bifröst is a private, self-governing, non-profit institution which receives around 40% of its income from the Icelandic state, 40% from tuition fees and 20% from other sources. The Bifröst campus is 110 km from the centre of Reykjavík, roughly 90 minutes' driving distance from the capital

University Of Iceland Háskóli Íslands
The University of Iceland was founded on 17 June 1911, on the centenary of 19th century Icelandic statesman Jón Sigurðsson, usually referred to as "president". The University was located in the Parliament House at Austurvöllur for the first 29 years. The University of Iceland was formed in a merger of the Seminary, the School of Medicine, and the School of Law, which each formed a faculty, in addition to the newly-established Faculty of Philosophy. Only 45 students, one of which was female, were enrolled during the 1911-1912 academic year; by comparison, the 2013-2014 academic year saw almost fourteen thousand students, around two thirds of which were female, studying at the University of Iceland. The University offers a variety of academic programmes on the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.

GRÓ LRT’s core activity is an annual six-month postgraduate level training in Iceland.
