Colegio De San Juan De Letran
Colegio de San Juan de Letran emerged from the fusion of two similar institutions both located in Intramuros. The first was founded in 1620 by Don Juan Geronimo Guerrero, a retired Spanish Officer, who transformed his hermitage home into an orphanage called the Colegio de Niños Huerfanos de San Juan de Letran. Its purpose was to educate and mold orphans into good Christian citizens. At about the same time, another institution by the name of Colegio de Huerfanos de San Pedro y San Pablo was established by the Dominican brother Diego de Santa Maria at the Convent of Santo Domingo. The founders of these two institutions with identical origin and purpose did not only share a common concern for the children of Intramuros but they were also linked by strong bonds of friendship. It was not surprising therefore that their institutions were merged into one even in their lifetime in 1630 and became known simply as the Colegio de San Juan de Letran. The name San Juan de Letran was inspired from the major basilica of Saint John Lateran in Rome, mother of all Christian churches. Early in the history of the College, its chapel was granted many of the privileges enjoyed by the major Basilica. Saint John the Baptist for whom the Basilica is named, is also the patron saint of the College. In 1690, Letran was declared as an ecclesiastical college. In 1738, six scholarships were granted by the King of Spain for Chinese, Japanese, and Tongkinese (Vietnamese) students. St. Vicente Liem de la Paz was among the students who enjoyed this scholarship. A royal decree of May 1865 pronounced Letran as a College of the First Class. The school’s curriculum was reviewed and revised according to European and American patterns in 1886. Further expansion took place in 1894 and adjustments were made with the arrival of the Americans in 1900. In 1937, a three-storey building replaced the old structure. The growth of the Colegio was temporarily arrested when the building was bombed in 1941 and then turned into a garrison by the Japanese army in 1944. The Colegio was temporarily housed in the Dominican church and convent of San Juan del Monte. After the war in 1946, Letran returned to its home in Intramuros. In a span of more than three centuries, Letran produced alumni who became the builders of the Filipino nation. The names of Manuel Quezon, Sergio Osmena, Apolinario Mabini, Marcelo del Pilar, Padre Mariano Gomez, Francisco Baltazar, Emilio Aguinaldo, and many others are enshrined in the hearts of every Filipino. Colegio de San Juan de Letran has faithfully lived up to her mission. No revolution nor earthquakes, no world war nor man-made disasters have broken or changed the resolve of our Dominican administrators to continue this noble task of providing excellent christian education. Countless great men have passed and will continue to pass through the portals of this old venerable institution - revolutionaries, heroes and patriots, presidents, leader of the church and most notable of all, a saint. In its long history, there will always be the successes as well as challenges for Letran. But for years and generations beyond, in the end, Letran will remain standing as a cut above the rest - proud of its heritage and sure of the time - honored and enshrined ideals of DEUS, PATRIA, LETRAN.

Eastern Visayas State University
The Eastern Visayas State University had its humble beginnings in 1907, as a part of the Provincial school. It became a separate educational entity in 1915 and was renamed as the Leyte Trade School funded by the Provincial government. In 1953, after thirty-eight years, it was renamed as the National Provincial Trade School by virtue of R.A. 406 funded jointly by the National and Provincial Government to cover a wider curricular area. In 1961, the Congress of the Philippines passed Republic Act 1516 converting it into the Leyte Regional Arts and Trades and authorizing it to become a training institution, for vocational and industrial education in Eastern Visayas. Finally, Republic Act 4572 enacted by the congress of the Philippines which took effect in the school year 1965-1966 further converting the school into a chartered college. It was renamed the Leyte Institute of Technology, an institute of higher learning committed to the service of a larger academic area of responsibility. For SY LIT has its satellite campus, the Ormoc satellite Campus. In pursuant to the provisions of RA 7722, 8292 and 8745 and Board Resolutions No. 59, Series of two CHED Supervised institutions (CSIs) in Leyte, namely the Leyte College of Arts and Trades and the Burauen Polytechnic College were integrated to LIT. The LIT Dulag Campus started in SY The Carigara School of Fisheries was integrated to LIT, the second phase of CSIs institution to SUCs. In 2002-2003, LIT had continued accomplishing its significant role and responsibility to the people in the region. The introduction of new programs, technological and business, the realignment of courses, and high-passing percentage of the engineering and other professional programs established a great challenge and gigantic responsibility to the institution. Finally, in 2004, Republic Act 9311 converted the Leyte Institute of Technology, into Eastern Visayas State University, through academic excellence.

Central Mindanao University
It all started as a settlement farm school, one of the few in Mindanao organized by pioneering Americans in 1910. Simply named Mailag Industrial School, this pilot school offered only the first four grades of the elementary agriculture curriculum. In 1918, it was renamed Bukidnon Agricultural School to which three more grades were added completing the elementary agriculture to grade seven. With this, the school was transferred to Managok, a wider and greener part of Malaybalay, Bukidnon. Several renaming, relocations, and proclamations colored the historical beginnings of CMU from Bukidnon Rural High School (BRHS) to Bukidnon Agricultural High School (BAHS), and to Bukidnon National Agricultural School (BNAS). Congressman Cesar Fortich of Bukidnon sponsored House Bill 3041 which elevated Bukidnon National Agricultural School to an agricultural state college. This proved successful when President Elpidio Quirino signed Republic Act 807, otherwise known as Mindanao Agricultural College (MAC) Charter on June 21, 1952. In 1957-1960, three Stanford consultants, namely: James Wall, Donald Green, and John McCleland, lived in Musuan and provided technical assistance in Agricultural Technology. Musuan provided fertile and wide tracts of land ideal for diverse agricultural tillage that President Carlos P. Garcia, through the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources issued Proclamation No. 476 granting CMU 3,401 hectares of land. On June 19, 1965, MAC became Central Mindanao University by virtue of Republic Act 4498. In 1974, Cadastral court decision for the segregation of several hectares was amended to support the agrarian program of the 3,401 hectares. 321 were properly segregated and given to legitimate claimants. A total of 3,080 hectares was granted and titled in the name of CMU. Section 2 of Republic Act No. 4498 mandates that Central Mindanao University shall provide programs of instruction at all levels in the arts, sciences, technical, profes.
