Scouts And Girl Guides Of Libya

The Scouts and Girl Guides of Libya (Former: Public Scout and Girl Guide Movement)(Arabic: كشاف ومرشدات ليبيا) is the national Scouting organization of Libya. It was founded in 1954 and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1958 and of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1981. The coeducational Scouts and Girl Guides of Libya has about 18,500 members (13,698 Scouts[1] and 4,766 Guides) as of 2004. The Scout Motto is Kun Musta'idan or كن مستعداً, translating as Be Prepared in Arabic, though the local variant is Wa a'eddou or و أعدوا. The noun for a single Scout is Kashaf or كشاف in Arabic.

The Alliance for Post Conflict Reconstruction was initiated by a group of academics and active consultants from the countries of Egypt, libya,Lebanon, Iraq, denmark, and Germany. The members of the network were provoked by the high level of destruction that was inflicted to different cities in countries in the Middle East. The countries in question went and are going through armed conflicts resulting from War, civil conflict, revolutions or occupation. These countries include Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen and the Palestine territories. The backgrounds of the members of the networks complement each other to form an integrated team covering the disciplines of urban planning, architecture, civil engineering, remote sensing and socio-economics. The team works on applying a comprehensive methodology of post conflict reconstruction approach in war torn and violence affected cities to mitigate such destructive and devastating impacts.

Our vision is broad with our immediate focus on: Civic engagement, inclusiveness, and association. About Us The New Libya Foundation was born from the Facebook page, Time For A New Libya. Launched on February 10th, 2011 in support of the historic events of the February 17 revolution, the page’s objective was to bring global media attention to the revolution and global users’ attention to Libya’s future. More than a call for the end of Gaddafi’s regime, the page espoused a singular vision for a New Libya that revolved around a thriving civil society. Building on that vision, the page’s co-administrators partnered with educational institutions, development agencies and active Libyan community members to launch the New Libya Foundation, a formal foundation for the development of Libyan civil society. Since our inception, the NLF has raised over one million dollars, successfully implemented fourteen capacity building and advocacy programs and conducted over three hundred events. We have directly impacted the lives of more than three thousand young activists and civil society leaders, and assisted in the establishment of more than seventy nascent organizations. In 2015, the New Libya Foundation will merge with Forum for Democratic Libya to create Jusur (bridges), a national policy making and advocacy organization.
