We are happy to announce that Kaunas has officially been designated the European Capital of Culture 2022. Kaunas of Lithuania seeks to become a changing force for a local community as well as for the communities with similar problems and issues all over Europe. The official slogan for the city is: “KAUNAS 2022: FROM TEMPORARY TO CONTEMPORARY“. The concept of an artistic and overall community program is based on three CONs: To become CONTEMPORARY we need to overcome CONfusion in our fragmented and censored history and mentality, to understand that we are a CONfluence not only of two biggest Lithuanian rivers, but of very different and sometimes conflicting people and ideas, and, finally, we have to create CONsciousness which can productively lead us to become a more successful community in Europe and for Europe. By CONTEMPORARY, we mean being CONnected with the rest of Europe, to be in CONtext and to create a new CONtent for our city, our country and our Europe. Therefore, from now on, Kaunas is a place where everyone is invited to participate and contribute. Or KAUNtribute, as some may say… The artistic and community program is being launched right away. The revolutionary TEMPO ACADEMY has already having the first wave of graduates. The Tempo Academy is built on the basis of Kaunas – European Capital of Culture office. It is structured and designated to serve as an impact school with all the activities of an office being supplemented with lectures and classes for local culture community. The Contemporary MYTH OF KAUNAS – a complex public relations project, aimed to create an attractive narrative for the city, is being initiated as a web page where everyone will have an opportunity to tell a story of The Beast of Kaunas by collaborative writing. Valstybinis ansamblis „Lietuva“ – veržlus, šiuolaikiškas ir profesionalus ansamblis, apjungiantis šokėjus, nacionalinių instrumentų orkestrą ir choro grupes. The State Small Theatre Of Vilnius

EN / The State Small Theatre of Vilnius was opened in March 1990, the same year and month as the independent Republic of Lithuania was restored, the theatre has been operating for almost 35 years already. The State Small Theatre of Vilnius was founded by a prominent Lithuanian stage director Rimas Tuminas and composer Faustas Latėnas. Rimas Tuminas also serves as the theatre’s first Art Director. His works shaped the new Lithuanian theatrical tradition and continues to be an influential part of Lithuanian theatre phenomena. The State Small Theatre of Vilnius is the youngest Lithuanian State theatre. LT / Sostinės centre 2005 m. įsikūręs VMT yra viena patraukliausių ne tik teatro, bet miesto kultūros erdvių. Savitu praeities ir dabarties, praėjusių amžių ir modernumo sąlyčiu pasižyminti teatro dvasia jaučiama ir architektūroje, ir interjere, ir pačiuose spektakliuose. VMT trupės branduolį sudaro skirtingų kartų aktoriai, daugiausia režisieriaus Rimo Tumino mokiniai. Spektaklius teatre kuria įvairūs Lietuvos ir užsienio režisieriai, scenografai, kompozitoriai.

Nacionalinis Kauno Dramos Teatras

The National Kaunas Drama Theatre, which was founded on December 19th, 1920, is the oldest professional theatre in Lithuania. There is always a harmonious symbiosis in the theatre, which is preparing for its 100th birthday: the modern building is shrouded in deep history, the classic plays in the repertoire are complemented by the addition of contemporary plays and experimental performances, the mature actor troupe often welcomes new talented "fresh blood". Po mūsų sparnu vyksta programa „Kauno iššūkis“ ir kartu su naktiniu klubu Lizdas ir Kaunas Europos kultūros sostinė 2022 organizuojamas šiuolaikinio miesto festivalis „Audra“. Čia jauni žmonės generuoja ir vysto savo kūrybinius projektus nuo idėjos iki rezultato, darbo komandoje, komunikacijos.

Low Air Vilnius City Dance Theatre

The mission of LOW AIR – to inform more people about the culture of urban dance through building culture communities, creating and introducing dance performances, creating the conditions for education, and initiating various social programs reachable to anyone. Vilnius dance theatre Low Air is the first independent urban dance company in Lithuania which since 2012 has the official Theatre status according to the national laws. The creative team of the company – is well-known Lithuanian dancers and choreographers who accelerate the new forms of expanded urban dances in the country. Whilst experimenting and combining different dance styles and movement forms, choosing themes for the performances, curating and educating young dancers on stage, Low Air both develops and gathers a professional community around it, by building interdisciplinary bridges implements audience development strategies. Low Air has been awarded or nominated for the highest Lithuanian theatre awards number of times. Having received the attention of foreign critics and professionals on tours Low Air dance company in 2017 received the title of Vilnius City Dance Theatre. Low Air is involved in various art projects and exchange programs where I do participate in and organize dance workshops, community outreach creative actions. Centras yra įsikūręs viename iš seniausių Panevėžio parkų - Skaistakalnio parke, gamtos apsuptyje. Parko teritorija susiformavo dar pagonybės laikais, iš kur kildinamas ir paties parko vardo atsiradimas. Žodis „skaistus“ siejamas su žodžiu „šventas“ ir žymi sakralinę vietovės reikšmę. Po Pirmojo pasaulinio karo J. Čerkesas iš Rusijos drauge su šeima grįžo į Panevėžį, kur nusipirkęs 9 ha žemės sklypą pasistatė tuomet itin modernų namą. Aplink pasodino daug medžių ir mylimą sodybą Žagienio upelio vingyje pavadino Pragiedruliais. Joje tarpukariu mielai lankydavosi literatai, teisininkai, pedagogai ir kiti šviesuoliai. Sodyboje kirtosi iškilių, Lietuvą kūrusių žmonių keliai, skleidėsi idėjos, klestėjo menas, kūryba ir muzika. Šiandien „Pragiedruliai“ tęsia misiją burti kūrybiškus ir meną mylinčius žmones, kviesdami visų amžių lankytojus dalyvauti įvairiose veiklose ir pasisemti nepamirštamų įspūdžių. Čia vyksta dailės, tekstilės dizaino, taikomojo teatro, audio-video ir alternatyviosios fotografijos studijos. Be to, kiekvieną mėnesį panevėžiečius džiugina menininkų parodos iš Lietuvos ir užsienio, bendruomenės renginiai bei miesto gyventojams atviras miško daržas.

Playback theater "Vakhters" consists of actors who have undergone special training related to the specifics of the playback theater. Our performances are complete improvisation, and the audience sets the dramaturgy. You tell your stories, and we immediately turn them into a symbiosis of sound, body movements, words and emotions. What do viewers get? Someone re-experiences emotions that have long subsided, someone finds answers to tormenting questions, someone understands that he is not alone with his feelings, and someone discovers new aspects of past events. Kaunas Artists’ House is a center of professional arts in Kaunas, carrying out cultural activities, popularizing contemporary art, and organizing and presenting cultural programs to the public. Kaunas Artists’ House produces cultural and artistic content, coordinates the city’s cultural information, and also acts as a mediator between the city municipality and the cultural operators and their audiences. The fifty-year-old Kaunas Artists’ House is one of the longest-running such institutions not only in Kaunas but also in Lithuania. Kaunas Artists’ House has been consistently creating and developing the following platforms since 2017: art residencies, educational programs, and the Cultural Information Center. In addition to the main platforms, community-oriented co-creative activities and the presentation of professional arts are being developed, with a strong focus on cultural accessibility.
