The Africa Philanthropy Network Formerly The African Grantmakers Network
The African Philanthropy Network (Formerly the African Grantmakers Network) is a continent-wide network of emerging and established African philanthropy organizations. Our mission is to be a platform that promotes an African voice and agenda for philanthropy. We strive to adopt and scale up effective giving strategies for our members to enhance the standards of philanthropy on the Continent for increased impact. We believe the origin and basis for finding the ‘voice’ of African philanthropy is an improved environment for local philanthropy across African states, and a strong influence on Pan African and country level policy improvements on giving. By knowing what others are doing, our work provides a basis for collaborating to map private and public giving in Africa; understanding how these resources are allocated; creating a unified knowledge platform that targets giving to high-impact development needs and promotes sustainable investments. We achieve our Mission by- Creating and curating African inspired content that informs our members about developments in the Sector- Coordinating demand-driven peer learning opportunities for our members to share unique indigenous approaches on philanthropy and best practices across the Continent- Creating an enabling environment for policy change by forming strategic partnerships with change actors and leaders to develop practical actions for governments that support the spirit of giving and sharing- Strengthening systems within philanthropy institutions for more efficient governance and management of resources- Convening Annual Assemblies whose outcomes influence the design and development of our programmes. The Assemblies bring together our African and non-African members to discuss emerging trends and issues in Africa's Philanthropy landscape. Visit to find out more about our work.

Women And Men Against Child Abuse
Women and Men Against Child Abuse was founded in 1997 as a Non-Government, Non-Profit Organisation. It is a Section 21 Company and is recognised by the South African Revenue Service as a Public Benefit Organisation with Section 18A tax exemption status. The spiralling increase in incidents of child abuse in our country necessitated the provision of specialised child-abuse facilities, as well as the introduction of preventative programmes to break the complex cycle of abuse. Our first Kidz Clinic opened its doors in Boksburg in June and the Kidz Clinic in Alexandra was opened in December 2003. With funding from Pick 'n Pay our third clinic officially opened in Orange Farm in May 2006. The Kidz Clinics are one-stop child-friendly centres providing free medical and psychological treatment for children who have been sexually, physically and emotionally violated. By identifying the need to introduce effective measures to prevent the abuse of children, our organisation introduced three preventative and support programmes that deal with education, rehabilitation and counseling. Women and Men Against Child Abuse has been extremely outspoken in its offensive against child abuse. The organisation has also been instrumental in raising awareness, which has led to growing public support.

The Clarion Development Agency
We empower children, the youth and women in our communities in partnership with all stakeholders to help create a better today and brighter tomorrow using the core principles of Ubuntu. The Clarion Development Agency intervenes to reduces pain and suffering in the world at three levels: the community, business and government leaderships. These three spheres contribute to the conditions in which people find themselves today. The way in which the community reacts to government interventions and business involvements influences the atmosphere in which they live and consequently the conditions of life. On the other hand, a business that balances the need for profits with those of the community contribute more towards sustainable living and creates conditions where government is better positioned to serve its people. For this reason, we have carefully and purposely selected programs that ensure balanced support as follows- Education and Training for a better expression in the country’s economy- Life Skills Development for a better understanding of the experience of life- HIV and AIDS Care and Counselling to help reduce the spread of HIV and AIDS in our society- Substance Abuse Care and Support to deal with issues of substance abuse in our communities and among the youth in particular- Arts and Sports to foster teamwork, discipline and focus and to develop creative thinking and imagination skills- African Heritage Training programs to strengthen the sense of identity necessary for purposeful living- Ubuntu Advocacy to rekindle the spirit of Ubuntu in our society.
