Ruzizi Iii Energy Limited
Ruzizi Energy Limited (REL) is a special purpose vehicle registered in Rwanda for the development, construction, and operation of the Ruzizi regional hydroelectric power project (Project). It is a key development project and will be one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region, comprising Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Project will be constructed and owned as a public-private partnership among the Republic of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and the Republic of Rwanda (together as the Contracting States) and REL. The 206 MW Ruzizi project is planned as a run-of-river hydropower project, located on the Ruzizi River, which forms the border between the DRC and Rwanda in the region. The Ruzizi River flows from Lake Kivu to Lake Tanganyika. REL will be a public-private partnership during the construction and operation of the Project. The shareholders of REL during the initial development period are Industrial Promotion Services and SN Power AS (SN Power is owned by TotalEnergies).
