Winnipeg Boldness
The Winnipeg Boldness Project is a research and development project that is working alongside the North End community to improve outcomes for young children in the Point Douglas area. It has been proven that children do some of their most important development in the first five years of their life. This means that if a child does not have the proper supports for development at this young age, they will likely struggle throughout their education, which ultimately could effect the entire outcome of their lives. Currently, about 50% of kids in the Point Douglas are doing really well in terms of early childhood development (ECD) and are starting school at a point where they’re ready to begin learning and take on the world. What The Winnipeg Boldness Project is aiming to do is raise that number, because we believe that every child should have the same access to opportunity.

Borders In Globalization University Of Victoria
The Borders in Globalization Project is an international research network designed to connect research to policy, build excellence in the knowledge of borders, and advance border management in Canada and around the world. The BIG Network is comprised of academic partners in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, representatives from nine intergovernmental and transnational organizations, and research collaborators from an additional 16 universities around the world. We publish an open access journal, the Borders in Globalization Review, as well as an open access book series (BIG Books) and a podcast series (Borders in Globalization Podcast). The Borders in Globalization Project (BIG) began in 2013 at the University of Victoria’s Centre for Global Studies. Under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly, the first phase of the BIG program focused on building excellence in our knowledge and understanding of borders. During this phase, the BIG network conducted over 130 research projects related to borders in globalization, provided research opportunities and training to more than 180 undergraduate and graduate students, hosted two international conferences, ten summer institutes, two dozen workshops, and multiple policy forums and roundtables. In 2021, under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly and Dr. Jeff Corntassel, the BIG Project launched phase 2 of the program, “21st Century Borders: Emergent Challenges Among and Within State”. This 7-year SSHRC funded international research collaboration will explore the understandings of borders – real, remote, and virtual – in the 21st century. Through the 21st Century Borders grant, the BIG network will continue to provide research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students, host policy focused roundtables, summer institutes, workshops, and international conferences, and bring together leading experts in the field of border studies.

Department Of Political Studies, Queen's University
Politics is about power – who has it and how it is exercised by nation-states, individuals, groups, classes, or political parties, and how different interests are reconciled in and between communities. Political science is also concerned with institutions created to govern communities, as well as practices such as voting habits or protests, and how rules, behaviour and culture are created in societies. And since power in society is often dependent upon material resources, political scientists study the distribution of wealth, both within and between nations. As one of Canada’s premier departments of political science, the Department of Political Studies at Queen's University is committed to both research and teaching. Our faculty are actively engaged in a wide range of research activities and projects and highly visible in the discipline of political science both in Canada and abroad. Our undergraduate program, one of the most popular programs at Queen’s, provides students with a solid grounding in political science, and at the graduate level, we offer the Master of Arts and the Doctor of Philosophy in: Canadian Politics Comparative Politics - Gender and Politics - International Relations - Political Theory - Political and Legal Thought (MA only)
