Swissrdl - Medical Registries University Of Bern
SwissRDL, a part of the ISPM of the University Bern, is specialized in medical registries and data linkage. Our mission is to advance and improve health care in a rapidly evolving health care environment. Much effort is required to create a registry that collects high quality data, and there are many prerequisites. But in return for that effort, a top-notch registry becomes a unique source of information drawn from real life. Another area of expertise is data linkage. Using state-of-the-art methodology, we combine existing datasets to gain additional information and enhance the quality of our data for future research. SwissRDL interfaces between IT technology, health services research, health technology assessment, delivery of care, and outcome research in medicine, over the whole life cycle of a registry, from the original idea to the final results.

Uniprot
Our mission at UniProt is to provide the scientific community with a comprehensive, high-quality and freely accessible resource of protein sequence and functional information. This includes the amino acid sequence of reference proteins and of related isoforms, annotated with post-translational modifications, mutations and functional/disease variants. Physiological functional information, protein structures, protein interaction/complex information and much more is added to relevant entries. UniProt is populated by both expertly curated experimental data which is then computationally transferred to homologous entries and imported data from hundreds of cross-referenced databases. UniProt is a collaboration between the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) and the Protein Information Resource (PIR). Across the three institutes more than 100 people are involved in database curation, user support, software and website development. UniProt resources are freely available online at UniProt.org Programmatic access is available via our APIs at

Vitality Universe
Using state-of-the-art detection and processing technology based on very low frequency (VLF) waves, we aim to induce a paradigm shift in the way we understand and manage living systems as well as the deployment of interactive technologies that support them. We have been granted multiple patents in the domains of well-being, water treatment and bio-technology. We do not deploy our technologies but we licence them to strategic partners. Our mission: We develop specific applications based on very low frequency (VLF) technology in the domains of well-being, health and agronomy. We consult, conceptualize and design software, hardware and systems for applications that maintain and/or stimulate an optimal state in the living using low frequency sound vibrations and signals.

Institute Of Computational Physics

Institute Of Molecular Systems Biology, Zurich
Founded in January 1st, 2005, the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology is a new Institute in the Department of Biology at the ETH Zurich. The mission of the Institute is to develop, apply and teach the emerging science of Systems Biology. We understand Systems Biology as an approach to biological research that studies biological systems and processes as dynamic, integrated networks of interacting molecules. The underlying vision is that the structure and dynamics of such networks will provide insights into the function and control of biological systems that are not apparent from studying the systems’s components. Neither, the technologies to collect the data required to analyze molecular networks, nor the theory and tools to extract functional information from the data is well developed at present. A significant part of the activities in IMSB will therefore focus on the development of new technologies for the collection and analysis of quantitative data at high throughput and their integration into models that represent the behavior of the systems studied. By its nature, systems biology is an interdisciplinary science. The IMSB strives to create a highly interactive working environment that is integrated within a network of collaborative projects. IMSB scientists are involved in SystemsX, the Swiss Initiative in Systems Biology, which includes the Center for Model Organism Proteomics (C-MOP) at the University of Zürich, the Competence Center for Systems Physiology and Metabolic Disease (CC-SPMD) at the ETH Zürich as well as the Center of Biosystems & Engineering (C-BSSE) of the ETH Zürich at Basel. The IMSB is also tightly linked to other international Systems Biology projects and institutes such as the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) in Seattle, WA, the Yeast Systems Biology Network, and Advanced Systems Biology Courses.

Women In Technology At Cern
The idea for a CERN Women in Technology group began in early 2016, when several new members of the IT department realized that the Women in Technology networks from which they had benefited at university and in industry did not exist at CERN, or even in the Geneva area. After speaking with like-minded colleagues, they decided to found a group at CERN where colleagues could exchange ideas on common topics and share career advice and experiences. Thus the “Women in Technology at CERN” grass-roots community came on the scene, to complement the other professional community networks within the diverse CERN environment.
