Iucn Marine Mammal Protected Areas Task Force
The main activity of the IUCN Marine Mammal Protected Areas Task Force is the identification of the tool of Important Marine Mammal Areas, or IMMAs. The Marine Mammal Protected Areas Task Force (MMPATF) was created in 2013 as a joint Task Force situated within the IUCN Species Survival Commission and the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas. The Task Force supports a stronger global profile for the conservation of marine mammals. Since 2016, the Task Force has undertaken a global effort, through a series of 11 regional scientific workshops, to focus on identifying Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs), beginning with the Mediterranean in 2016, followed by the Pacific Islands (2017), the North East Indian Ocean and South East Asian Seas (2018), the Extended Southern Ocean (2018), the Western Indian Ocean and Arabian Seas (2019), Australia-New Zealand waters and South East Indian Ocean (2020), the Black Sea, Turkish Straits and Caspian Sea (2021), the South East Tropical and Temperate Pacific Ocean (2022), the North East Atlantic Ocean and Baltic Sea (2023), and the North West Atlantic Ocean and Wider Caribbean Sea (2024). The Task Force has now examined 80% of the global ocean. Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs) are defined as discrete portions of habitat, important to marine mammal species, that have the potential to be delineated and managed for conservation. IMMAs are identified in order to prioritise their consideration for conservation measures by governments, intergovernmental organisations, industry, conservation groups, and the general public. Shapefiles and background information may be downloaded for free by filling out a form on the group’s website.

By means of our own research and development department solutions can be combined, modified or developed. The European distributorship for the revolutionary MasCom GC-APPI interface for LC-Orbitrap instruments for those wishing to unleash their Orbitrap performance onto their GC samples. Pre-loved AB Sciex MALDI Instruments from JBI Scientific. JBI has gathered an excellent reputation for servicing Sciex MALDI instruments and also provides specialist replacement parts. Additionally they provide fully refurbished instruments from the small and reliable Voyager series all the way up to the 5800. The result is incredible performance at an incredible price. If you're already involved in species identification using MALDI instruments then you know how brilliantly the system works. Traditional DBs leave a lot of room for more specificity and a higher number of species. For instance, clinical researchers want a sub-species characterization to find out if they've isolated a highly resistant strain, also called "superbug". You can, with a very inexpensive use of an online DB service based on whole genetic sequences, easily find this out using your present MALDI equipment. This PAPMID DB is also much, much larger than anything else available with over 8'100 bacterial species (Oct 2016) and it grows at a few hundred every month. The DB is also great for the ID of insect vectors and fungi.

Nccr Bio-Inspired Materials
The National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) Bio-Inspired Materials is a Swiss research collaboration started in 2014. Its vision is to establish a leading center for smart materials research, education, and innovation. The NCCR, through its leadership team at the Adolphe Merkle Institute in Fribourg, coordinates a team of 26 research groups at its home institution the University of Fribourg, EPFL and ETH Zurich, in physics, chemistry, materials science, biology, and medicine, along with other groups and researchers at CSEM, Empa, Cornell University, TU Darmstadt, and the University of Salzburg. The NCCR’s scientific goal is to take inspiration from natural materials for the creation of new macromolecular and nanomaterials and assemble them into stimuli-responsive materials with new properties. We envision them in innovative applications, particularly in the field of life sciences; e.g, tumor diagnostics and implants. These new interdisciplinary projects will soon begin to provide solutions to some of the major unsolved problems of our world as well as create exciting scientific advances. The National Centers of Competence in Research (NCCRs) are a research instrument of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Ribosome Studio
The Ribosome is a molecular machine that can be found in every living cell. It’s able to synthesize a protein according to the instructions stored in an RNA molecule, using a process called translation. We named our studio after it because at Ribosome Studio, our aim is “translation” as well. We take your scientific and medical discoveries and developments, and translate them into a beautiful medical animation, an impressive scientific illustration, or a stunning mechanism of action movie. With our help, you’ll easily be able to get concepts across to a wider audience in a clear and concise way. We have a real passion for science, particularly the medical industry. There are so many innovations being developed every single day, and we want to do our bit to continue to inspire that innovation, and show the world just how far medicine has come in the last few years. Our illustrations and animations really help to get across that sense of wonder that comes with new discoveries. They take science and medicine from being endless streams of data and figures, and transform them into something beautiful- an artistic accomplishment which does justice to the incredible achievements of your scientific team.
