Neurorehabilitation Robotics And Engineering
Publications: https://vbn.aau.dk/da/organisations/neurorehabilitation-robotics-and-engineering Our group’s vision is to alleviate the consequences of neurological-based functional decline through research and innovation within rehabilitation robotics, assistive technologies, and human-machine interfaces, within their clinical application and implication. Robotics and assistive technologies have a strong potential to help severely disabled individuals but face a paradox: The higher degree of disability, the higher the gain, but the harder it is to control the robots. It is our aim to provide solutions to resolve this paradox and to improve current rehabilitation schemes through robotics and assistive devices.

Nordicmetrics Aps
About NordicMetrics ApS NordicMetrics ApS is a Danish educational measurement and research organization that develops scientific measures of student learning progress. We work to improve the quality of the basis by which the Danish municipalities, schools and teachers implement their pedagogical efforts. Furthermore, one of the central aspects in our work is to improve students’ access to inspiring learning material with training, exercises and constructive feedback. We use inspiration from the Nordic education culture combined with scientifically based methods of measurement and feedback. We specialize in analysis, training and measurement of learning. Though we started out in the field of literacy, we are continuously establishing a more multidisciplinary scope. For instance, we use psychometric methods and tests to measure skills in different scientific subjects and personal attributes such as self-efficacy, motivation and well-being. Our ambition is to provide the Nordic educational models with a scientific boost, with a deeper understanding and an enhanced insight in the individual student’s progress and potential in order to make these visible for the students themselves and their teachers. Examples of activity areas: • Measurement of impact of instruction and teaching activities with emphasis on increasing learning by identifying what works. • Development of tools to measure educational and personal progress/growth. • Support in interpreting and using test results to improve pedagogical performance. • Developing and leading workshops and seminars in applying test results in a learning context. • Support in adaption and upgrade of existing test tools to computer based training and measurement. • Coordination of international projects and cutting edge instructional technology in Denmark (e.g. the Edsphere application about English literacy in cooperation with MetaMetrics, NC).

Reboundless
Society’s most well-intended efforts to solve sustainability challenges have not yet achieved the expected gains due to rebound effects, which are negative unintended consequences of interventions that arise due to induced changes in system behaviour. REBOUNDLESS aims to develop the reboundless design theory, a paradigm shift in design science that will establish the scientific knowledge for preventing rebound effects through novel methodologies, simulation models and strategies for the design of reboundless solutions (i.e, products, product/service-systems and socio-technical systems that are resilient to rebound effects). Never before has there been a stronger global focus on solving the pressing sustainability challenges, but the expected positive societal impact will not be achieved unless rebound effects are prevented.

Social And Symbiotic Evolution Group
Our research combines the fields of evolutionary ecology, molecular microbiology, and genomics to address fundamental questions on how antagonistic (parasitic) and beneficial (mutualistic) microbial symbionts shape host ecology and evolution, how partners complement each other metabolically, and how host-symbiont associations defend themselves against exploitation. Although fundamental in nature, our work encompasses components of applied significance, such as the natural use of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance in parasites, and plant decomposition enzymes.

Active Leadership Network

Center For Humanities Computing
Center for Humanities Computing is a computational research laboratory and infrastructure located at the Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University. CHC was born in 2019 as a response to the growing need for applications of computational approaches and digital data in the humanities. We started as a small group of researchers and research software engineers. Today CHC employes more than 25 researchers, engineers, and developers, and have a handful of affiliated researchers. CHC's vision is to organize socio-cultural and historical data and make them openly accessible, understandable, and actionable. Our goal is to bring significant and practical research benefits to researchers and other stakeholders, and to do so at a scalable and fast enough pace to keep up with the funding cycle. We use a range of techniques to realize our goal, but Machine Learning and Interactive High Performance Computing are central to almost all we do. CHC's activities are organized around a service-based model providing all employees at the Faculty of Arts with a rich service catalog, ex. cloud computing, databases, and custom model and software development. CHC also have several experimental services for educational IT infrastructure.
