Higher
Dedicated to human capital and its central role in the knowledge economy, the Haitian Institute of Guidance for Higher Education & Research (H I G H E R) develops decision-making information systems and international exchanges to support the modernization of the higher education and research ecosystem in Haiti. In accordance with its mission, the Institute operates through 3 main areas : 1) EXPERTISE AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS In support of public policies and non-public actors, HIGHER develops a set of tools, processes and resources for collecting, analyzing, sharing and exploiting national and international data to support decision-making related to higher education and research in Haiti. This branch of operations is devolved to the "Department of Expertise and Information Systems (DEIS)". 2) INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY AND EXCHANGE In the same spirit, the Institute accompanies and supervises the international mobility of Haitian students and researchers who already have an institutional anchoring in Haiti. These exchanges concern priority and promising sectors in relation to specific needs identified by local partner-beneficiaries. The implementation of this component is ensured by the "Mobility and International Exchanges Department (MIED)". 3) TEACHING AND EDUCATIONAL ENGINEERING Thirdly, through its "School division" which includes a preparatory cycle for higher education, HIGHER guides and accompanies high-level Haitian students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) towards international academic paths. Thanks to international accreditations, this component also allows young people residing in Haiti to earn foreign secondary school diplomas and language certifications that can facilitate their mobility to higher education in another country. The activities of the "School division" of HIGHER are implemented by the subsidiary THEHIGHER.SCHOOL, a hybrid secondary, pre-university and continuing education institution.
