Institute For Cultural, Social And Civilization Studies

The Institute of Cultural and Social Studies was established as an advisory organ for ‎the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in October 2003 with the objective ‎of conducting ‎”‎research in the cultural and social fields of higher education‎”‎ as well ‎as “the development and promotion of humanities and social sciences”. The initial ‎idea of establishing this research institute in the field of cultural and social studies, ‎with a focus on the academic requirements of the country, was derived from the ‎researches and studies that were conducted in the Office of Social Planning and ‎Cultural Studies of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The Institute of ‎Cultural and Social Studies was founded in response to the need to conduct research ‎and studies with the goal of developing theories, ideas, and strategies for the decision-‎making system, as well as the need for a continuous communication with experts and ‎elites and the establishment of a convenient space for analysis and theorizing the ‎Iranian higher education system. After about 17 years of activity, the Higher ‎Education Development and Planning ‎Council stated its definite agreement to ‎promote the institute on November 2019 and ‎launch of two new groups of “Science ‎and Technology Studies‎”‎ and ‎‎“Communications and Virtual Space Studies”. This is ‎an institute with a permanent commission and an independent board of trustees; ‎established faculty members, professors, and researchers in the humanities and social ‎sciences from the country's universities and research centers, as well as specialized ‎employees and experts, who are the most important pillars of the institution's ‎identity. The council of the institute is the highest ranking organ of the institute's research ‎decisions, which consists of 9 to 11 members with at least 2 external members.

Kurdistan Agricultural And Natural Resources Research And Education Center

Kurdistan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Education Center is located in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province, in the west of Iran. Our research activities have been established with the title of Seed and Plant Improvement Research Office since 1964. At present, this center, with three deputies including research & technology, education, development and human resources management, conducts applied research in the field of agriculture and natural resources and provides the required agronomic training in Kurdistan province. The research & technology deputy consists of four research departments including Agronomy & Horticultural Sciences, Forests and Rangelands, Animal Sciences, and Soil Conservation and Watershed Management research divisions as well as two research units named Seed and Plant Registration and Certification, and Information Technology. Research plans in the field of agro-horticulture, natural resources and animal sciences in Kurdistan Research Center are conducting in laboratories and seven research stations. These stations are suitable environments to conduct the research projects, protection of genetic resources, and production of primary stock of new and superior varieties. On average more than one hundred research projects are performed in each year.

Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute

The history of the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute (CVDRI) which is affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences dates back to 2001. Since the establishment of Tehran Heart Center in February 2001, Research Center of Tehran Heart Center has also started its activities. This research center has access to the facilities and unlimited number of patients from all over the country to Tehran Heart Center Hospital (one of the best equipped diagnostic and cardiovascular centers in the region). As a result, a comprehensive program was developed to implement the policies of this center. From the very beginning, the establishment of the CVDRI in Tehran Heart Center was one of the planned programs. In 2016, two additional research centers including primary prevention and research on new technologies in cardiovascular domain also started their activities. Finally in 2018, the Tehran Heart Research Center was upgraded to the Cardiovascular Diseases Research Institute.

Composites Research Laboratory (COMRESLAB) at the University of Tehran, Faculty of New Sciences & Technologies (FNST), was initiated in the spring of 2011 to provide an environment for educational, research & development activities in the field of composite materials and structures. COMRESLAB conducts fundamental and applied research in various areas including characterization and processing of advanced composite/nano-composite materials and design, analysis, fabrication and testing of composite structures. The multidisciplinary research team of COMRESLAB consists of graduate students involved in the MSc and PhD programs and research associates sharing common interest in composites science and technology. Research funding in the form of contracts and grants is provided by different sectors of industry and governmental agencies utilizing composites in different engineering applications. The understanding of composite structures demands for an in-depth knowledge of constituent material behavior encompassing of nano-reinforcing agents, fibers and resins and their interactions at the material level while addressing their structural behavior required fundamental analysis at higher levels.
