National Institute Of Biology
National Institute of Biology (NIB) is the largest independent Public Research Institution for Life Sciences in Slovenia. The basic activity of the Institute is basic, developmental and applicative research in the fields of biotechnology, biophysics, biomedicine and system biology. The numerous activities taking place at NIB are related to the environment, agriculture, food and, more recently and increasingly so, to human health. The Institute consists of four research departments: Department of Organisms and Ecosystems Research, Department of Genetic Toxicology and Cancer Biology, Department of Biotechnology and Systems Biology and Marine Biology Station. Departments are relatively independent as regards programmes, human resources and finance and have their own science and business strategies and basic objectives. NIB also has its own technology transfer office responsible for the management of intellectual property and business development. NIB works in close cooperation with affiliated higher education and research institutions in Slovenia and abroad. This synergy ensures that the knowledge produced at the Institute is widely accessible to the society through education and outreach activities and is beneficial to the economy by being transferred into practice. NIB is a project-oriented institution financed with grants from the Slovenian Research Agency and international grants including EU funding schemes. NIB is simultaneously involved in numerous international collaborations and, increasingly, in long-term contract research for the Centres of Excellence, pharmaceutical companies and a number of small and medium-sized enterprises. Since NIB holds the quality management standard ISO and has acquired the Good Laboratory Practice certificate according to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard in 2003. NIB is also a holder of national etalon for the plant-derived amount of substance/food.

Zrc Sazu Research Centre Of The Slovenian Academy Of Sciences And Arts
The Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) was established as an independent public research institution in 1981 and has since become one of the leading research centres in Slovenia, mainly in the humanities and social sciences, and one of the most prominent academic institutions in central and southeastern Europe. More than three hundred researchers work within eighteen interconnected institutes that create a dynamic transdisciplinary research network. ZRC SAZU researchers conduct outstanding research that spans from linguistics to philosophy and archaeology to biology. Their findings are of tremendous importance for a better understanding of cultural, social, and natural phenomena in Slovenia and the world. Apart from publishing their results in academic publications, research groups also engage in data collection, documentation, and presentation to audiences beyond the academic sphere. ZRC SAZU has its own publishing house, bookstore, and several laboratories; it houses the Geographical Museum, and boasts numerous collections. ZRC SAZU publishes around 60 to 90 monographs annually and from 25 to 30 volumes of each title from an array of their science journals. Among its rich publishing activity, five academic journals are listed in Thomson Reuters and twelve in Scopus. ZRC SAZU is an active supporter of open science.

Educational Research Institute
PRESENTATION The Educational Research Institute (ERI) is the central research institution in Slovenia for research in education undertaking basic research, development and applied projects on issues of current interest in all sectors of education and related areas. HISTORY The Educational Research Institute was established in 1965 by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, as an institute devoted to the study of education. From 1970 the ERI was associated with the University of Ljubljana until the 1995 when, with an act of the Government of Slovenia, ERI obtained the status of the public research institution and thus became an independent research institute. ERI is a founding member of the European Educational Research Association (EERA). AIMS / GOALS The Institute performs its activities in the context of the national research programme as a public service. The Institute also performs activities for other clients, to the extent and in the manner determined by the programme of development and the annual plan. In connection with current research, the main activities of the Institute are additionally- linking with related domestic and international institutions- meeting the status, staff and infrastructural conditions for inclusion in permanent networks of international educational research (OECD, IEA studies, Council of Europe, etc.)- training and post-graduate education of researchers, consultation and the dissemination of the results of research work- directing research into fields which are strategically important for Slovenia- organisation of seminars, professional meetings and international conferences- co-operation of the associates of the Institute in graduate and post-graduate pedagogic work- inclusion in international research activities- Educational research programme

Innorenew Coe
The InnoRenew CoE is an interdisciplinary research institute located in Slovenia. The InnoRenew CoE aims to be a world leader in the application and implementation of renewable materials and sustainable building research by focusing on wood modification and restorative environmental and ergonomic design (REED). The InnoRenew CoE is currently designing a brand new research building with infrastructure and equipment to explore a wide variety of topics critical to the advancement of renewable materials research. A growing team of researchers will study how human health is affected by the built environment; integrate computer science and IT into building and product design and support forest sector companies with digital strategies and technologies; examine the fundamentals of wood modification and apply those findings to industrial applications; study new renewable materials composites; and investigate and find solutions for creating healthier, more sustainable buildings from renewable materials. This project receives funding from the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union Research & Innovation Programme, H2020 WIDESPREAD-2-Teaming under grant agreement No 739574 and investment from the Republic of Slovenia and the EU European regional Development Fund. Sinapsa
SiNAPSA, Slovenian Neuroscience Association, connects researchers and professionals from various fields related to neuroscience in Slovenia and abroad. Established in 2003, it achieved international recognition by organising the IBRO-FENS Summer School on Cognitive Neuroscience of Working Memory in 2004, by subsequent organisation of biennal SiNAPSA Neuroscience Conferences (including the FENS Features Regional Meeting in 2001) as well as through several educational workshops, brain awareness events and activities involving children, lay public and patient organisations, that have garnered widespread support and media attention in Slovenia and abroad. SiNAPSA also facilitated the creation of and has been providing support to the Slovenian Brain Council, a patient-expert-industry forum for the advancement of neuroscience research and effective translation of knowledge into clinical practice.

Institute Of Metals And Technology
The Institute of Metals and Technology (IMT) is a public research institute for fundamental and applied research in natural, technical and environmental sciences. The IMT's programs are mainly funded from the state budget of The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia through its program and project financing (70%), with the rest of the support coming from the Slovenian Steelworks and external contracts. Centre For Social Informatics Fss, Ul
The Centre for Social Informatics (CSI) was established in 2011 within Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), University of Ljubljana (UL) and currently includes 25 researchers drawn from various disciplines as required by the complexity of Internet society research. CSI activities refer to the area of social informatics, a discipline dealing with the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in contemporary society. The research projects at CSI are related to web survey methodology and the use of digital technology in social science data collection in general, safe use of the Internet, social media, digital inequality, web and mobile usability etc. Researchers at CSI are one of the world’s leading groups in the area of the web survey methodology. They have published numerous scientific articles, created the related global website WebSM and developed a tool for creating and managing web surveys EnKlikAnketa (OneClickSurvey: http://english.1ka.si/). In 2015, they gathered their scientific findings in the book Callegaro, Lozar Manfreda, Vehovar: Web survey methodology published by Sage. Since January 2015, the CSI has been granted with the research programme “Internet Research”, directed by Prof. Vasja Vehovar, PhD, which aims to investigate the Internet as an object and as a tool for social science research.

Our current challenge is to develop a national home telehealth network to empower its user in their self-care efforts to maintain their healthy living style or regain health. With our partner organizations we’ve been building also a national telecare network aiming at supporting independent living of elderly and disabled persons in their home environment implementing also AAL- Ambient Assisted Living principles. We support inclusion of the network users in the information society and facilitate accessibility of ICT based home services. Clients and collaborators of MKS Ltd. are university institutions (University Rehabilitation Institute Soča, Faculty of Medicine), ministries of Republic of Slovenia (Ministry of Health of RS, Ministry of labour, family and Social affairs, Ministry of higher education, science and sport), hospitals (SB-SG, UKC LJ) and private institutions (Anton Trstenjak Institute for gerontology, Ljubljana) Although an SME by nature, MKS Ltd. contributes to national strategic policies and standardisation in telehealth, telecare and healthcare informatics. Dr. Drago Rudel, the company lead, runs several activities to promote telehealth and telecare in Slovenia. He gives courses to graduate students at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine (MF), Faculty of Health Sciences (ZF) and Faculty of social care (FSD).

Pulp and Paper Institute creates knowledge, services and strategies for raising competitiveness of the paper and related industries. It is a research and development center, which supports companies with a comprehensive portfolio of services and strategic networks at national and international level. Pulp and Paper Institute in its almost 70 year history has developed into a modern research and development center, which supports its partners by providing skills and services for the development of products made from natural fibers and paper. Direct integration of specialist knowledge and industrial competences ensures that the Institute offers comprehensive and high-quality services. The Institute was established in 1947 by the initiative of the Directorate-General of Yugoslavian pulp and paper industry to promote research and technological development of the industry. The institute has moved to its own premises in Bogišičeva 8 in Ljubljana from Vevče Paper Mill in 1963. With its laboratories for mechanical, chemical and biological testing, and pilot paper and coating machine for industrial testing, it is still the only infrastructure center in the wider region. It is registered research institution with two research groups on papermaking and packaging. Since 1998 the founder’s rights are assigned to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Association of Paper and Paper Processing Industry. The Institute is managed by the Council of the Institute/Management Board and the director. The members of the Council are appointed by the Board of the Association of Paper and Paper Processing Industry and the institute’s staff. Director of the Institute is appointed by the Council, with the consent of the Board of the Association. Institute’s Council of Experts is directing the investment in research and development.
