Fondazione FORMIT - Foundation for Technology Migration and Research was established in Italy on 19 July 1985 and recognised as a Non-profit Corporate Body on 15 February 1991 by a Decree of the Italian Minister for University and Scientific and Technological Research. In 2004, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations granted consultative status to FORMIT in recognition of its specific activities carried out with information technologies in the innovation sector for economic and social development. FORMIT Foundation constitutes a hub, which promotes highly technological activities and transfer the most meaningful experiences into advanced technology areas, developing scientific research activities, technical support and analysis, activities all related to industrial, financial and socio-economic evaluation as well.

The IRC mission was framed in the concept of “sustainable energy development” carrying out research in the crucial sectors of smart energy, environment protection and mitigation of climate effects, with the development of advanced processes for power/thermal energy production from fossil and renewable sources, valorization of wastes and alternative fuels, advanced techniques for pollutant monitoring/abatement, industrial risk assessment and production/characterization of materials relevant for energy. In this framework new and more promising activities in the area of advanced technologies are developed: energy production also integrating renewable sources (biomass and solar energy), innovative energy storage systems, pollutant monitoring and abatement, CO2 capture, biomass and wastes valorization, new materials for energy. IRC, now STEMS, research, supported by public and private funding, is developed at national and international level in collaboration with private companies and other prestigious research institutions.

The Italian Region of the International Biometric Society (SIB – Società Italiana di Biometria) aims at a transversal and synergic integration of biostatistics with biomedical and statistical disciplines. Gli studi sperimentali delle ricerche hanno lo scopo di migliorare le conoscenze sul substrato fisiologico e comportamentale relativo ai disturbi del neurosviluppo e ai deficit neurosensoriali, neuromotori, socio-emotivi e cognitivi. In particolare, la sede si occupa di esplorare l’uso delle tecnologie robotiche e dei serious games per la valutazione del processing socio-emotivo e la riabilitazione. Gli interventi basati sull’interazione uomo-macchina, sull’imitazione e sull’uso pragmatico della reciprocità sociale ed emotiva, hanno lo scopo di aiutare le persone con difficoltà socio-emotive ad imparare, identificare, interpretare ed utilizzare le informazioni emotive, estendendo le loro capacità di adattamento al contesto sociale.

Osservatorio Di Pavia

The Osservatorio di Pavia is a research and media analysis institute, established in 1994 by C.A.R.E.S. – the Cooperative for Economic and Social Analysis and Monitoring. Its core activity focuses on the study of communication as conveyed both by traditional media (press, radio and TV) and by platforms linked to the development of new technologies (the Internet and social media). Since its beginnings, the Osservatorio di Pavia has worked in close collaboration with the University of Pavia, whose scientific support has contributed to the development of various methods for data collection and analysis. The institute has maintained a long-standing partnership with RAI, for which it has continuously carried out political pluralism monitoring since 1994. The findings of this work are regularly used by the RAI Parliamentary Oversight Commission. Among the studies regularly conducted by the Osservatorio di Pavia for both public and private clients, it is worth mentioning the image profiles of institutions, individuals and brands, as well as the analyses of how themes, events and crises are portrayed in the media. The institute has also collaborated with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the OSCE/ODIHR, the European Union (EU), the Council of Europe (CoE) and the United Nations (UN) in the context of international election monitoring. The experience gained over time has enabled the Osservatorio di Pavia to develop and deliver training courses aimed at national and international institutions, the school system, universities and advanced education providers.
