CISM, International Centre for Mechanical Sciences, is a non-profit organization, founded in Udine (Italy) in 1968 to favour the exchange and application of the most advanced knowledge in the mechanical sciences, in interdisciplinary fields like robotics, biomechanics, environmental engineering and in other fields (mathematics, information and system theory, operations research, computer science, artificial intelligence). Located in the Palazzo del Torso in the center of Udine, the Centre’s facilities include two lecture halls, seating 80 and 50 persons respectively, several smaller lecture and meeting rooms, the Centre’s library, secretariat, administrative, technical offices and a printing press. CISM is international in both scope and structure: the Scientific Council, rectors, lecturers are selected from among the acknowledged authorities in their respective fields the world over. Established in 2012 for research and development in renewable energy, ICT, electronics, biology, food science, material technology, chemistry, nanotechnology, metallurgy and environmental technology.InResLab carries out its research activity directly, in partnerships and joint ventures as well as in cooperation with university departments, research bodies, professors and researchers. For its research activity InResLab avails itself of the support of a Scientific Committee made up of outstanding professors, researchers and professionals. From a new perspective, a key role can be thus played by industry-oriented laboratories which are not owned by specific undertakings but, on the contrary, are under contract and agree to conduct research for various clients. Moreover, industrial research organizations can also play an important role since they can greatly benefit from virtually all the undertaken projects. Institute For Atmospheric Sciences And Climate - Isac
The research activities of the ISAC are concerned with many basic aspects of atmospheric physics, chemistry and biology, which are of applicative relevance in the field of environmental protection. The unit has been in operation for 25 years, focusing on the impact that climate and microclimate produce on cultural heritage and cultural landscape, including the identification of strategies for conservation and identification of environmental technology for the damage assessment and management of cultural assets both indoor and outdoor. In particular the unit studies the physical, chemical and biological mechanisms of damage, the effects of climate and microclimate on moveable and immoveable Cultural Heritage, including multi-pollutants, sea-salts and biological particles. The unit collaborates with various research institutes in Italy and Europe on environmental protection of cultural heritage, with public organisations responsible for the conservation of cultural heritage and with local authorities for indoor and outdoor damage assessments of cultural assets and it is involved in university teaching and professional training courses in the fields of Atmospheric Physics, Climate Change, Durability of Building Materials and Sustainable Protection of Cultural Heritage.

MaX is a user-focused, problem-oriented European Centre of Excellence (H2020 e-infrastructure) aimed to foster EU leadership in materials modelling, simulations, discovery, and design. MaX works at the frontiers of current and future High-Performance Computing (HPC), enabling the best use and evolution of HPC technologies for materials research and innovation. MaX is creating an ecosystem of capabilities, ambitious applications, data workflows and analysis, and user-oriented services. MaX strategy focuses on enabling the exascale transition in the materials domain by developing advanced programming models, novel algorithms, domain-specific libraries, in-memory data management, software/hardware co-design and technology-transfer actions.

Next Cooking Generation
Next Cooking Generation (NCG) si pone l'obiettivo di rivoluzionare il settore del Food Service Equipment. Il team ha brevettato tecnologie innovative per rispondere a problemi quali la sicurezza alimentare, il risparmio energetico e la scarsità di risorse alimentari in funzione dell'aumento demografico (secondo la FAO, nel 2050 il pianeta ospiterà 9 miliardi di persone). NCG ha brevettato il sistema ad ultrasuoni denominato maturazione spinta© su cui si basa il funzionamento del dispositivo waveco®. La maturazione spinta© di waveco® (macchinario che l’azienda ha già lanciato sul mercato) permette di aumentare fino a 3 volte la shelf life, ossia la capacità di un alimento di mantenere le proprie qualità nutritive senza deteriorarsi. waveco® riesce ad ottenere un simile traguardo grazie all'abbattimento della carica batterica, cosa impossibile con la tecnologia tradizionale. Dal punto di vista della sicurezza, si tratta di un risultato eccellente se si considera che ogni anno 600 milioni di persone vengono intossicate da cibi contaminati e 420 mila persone muoiono, di cui 125 mila bambini (Fonte: FAO e 'OMS). Inoltre NCG è riuscita ad impattare sul risparmio energetico: 40 minuti di maturazione spinta© equivalgono a circa 25 giorni di maturazione canonica, con un risparmio energetico pari ad almeno il 90%. A questi risultati va aggiunto il miglioramento della qualità percepita del cibo (sapore, volume e colore). Difatti, il processo di maturazione può essere considerato come uno step intermedio tra la cottura di un alimento e il consumo a crudo: con l’utilizzo di waveco® il cibo può essere consumato semplicemente “maturato”. I vantaggi, però, non riguardano soltanto l’ambiente e la salute. L’utilizzo di waveco® consente agli operatori del settore di ottenere un taglio del food cost di oltre il 40%. L’azienda è fortemente focalizzata su attività di ricerca e sviluppo e sta progettando Krudo, dispositivo di sanificazione degli alimenti.

OGS is a public internationally oriented research Institute financed by the Italian Ministry of University and Research - MUR, which performs research studies turned to the knowledge about Earth and its resources in the fields of basic and applied research in Oceanography, Geophysics and Marine Geology, Applied Geophysics and exploration. OGS applies its own expertise in Earth Sciences, and in Marine and Polar regions to contribute not only to the spreading and widening of the knowledge, but also to the practical solution of environmental, economical and social issues. Counting on its own vessel, the icebreaker Laura Bassi — an oceanographic research ship — and other strategic infrastructures of excellence, OGS works for the safeguarding and enhancement of the environmental and natural resources in order to evaluate and prevent geological, environmental and climatic risks, with the aim of spreading scientific culture and knowledge. All these efforts are also made in collaboration with analogous European and international institutions, with private high-tech industries and qualified enterprises.
