Fondazione Graphitech
GraphiTech, Centre for Advanced Computer Graphics Technologies, was envisioned as a joint venture between the INI-GraphicsNet Stiftung, the Cultural Institute of Trento (Istituto Trentino di Cultura, now Fondazione Bruno Kessler) and the University of Trento (Università degli Studi di Trento). GraphiTech has been established in order to conduct research and development activities in the broad technology area of advanced computer graphics, mixed reality, information and communication systems. The aim of the joint venture is to enhance the competitiveness of Trentino’s industries through the development and application of advanced computer graphics. The Foundation’s mission is to contribute towards the transfer of knowledge between the research sector and the industry through the promotion of research on advanced graphics, information processing and visual communication, including mixed reality and virtual engineering. GraphiTech, through its activities, stimulates collaboration and friendship in the field of information technology, between the Trentino province, Italy and Germany and it performs world-class research and development in advanced computer graphics technologies and services. Its international nature is strengthened by GraphiTech’s membership to the INI-GraphicsNet the widest research network in computer graphics worldwide. GraphiTech is involved in several projects both at the EU and at the national level. Projects are carried out as R&D activities, both through financing by EU or local framework programmes, as well as through applied research projects, commissioned by industries or local authorities.

Mmtlab Unibs
The Mechanical and Thermal Measurements research group focuses its teaching and research activities on metrology and measurement systems, investigating different research topics, both in the industrial and the biomechanical field. The group also manages the MMT Lab, which, beside teaching and research, provides lab testing services, test bench design and consulting for the industrial sector. The Mechanical and Thermal Measurement group actively collaborates with all the other labs and research group of the department, in particular with the Vision System for Mechatronics Group Research activities: 1) Measurements for biomechanics In collaboration with other research Departments and clinical practices, different measurement systems were developed to acquire forces and movements of the human body, especially in the field of rehabilitation, biomechanics and human observation. In most cases ad-hoc experimental measurement benches and suitable biomechanical models were created to assess loads and movements of internal features of the human body. 2) Industrial diagnostics Using an operational modal analysis approach a set of mathematical and technical tools were developed to identify defects and damages in a solid body using acceleration data. Particular care was taken to ensure such methods could be implemented on the field, without requiring a tightly controlled environment. 3) Test bench for vibrations and impulsive load characterization Different research projects, funded by industrial partners, were carried on to develop or improve test benches for experimental material characterization, working under impulsive conditions or subject to vibrations. New bench designs, based on uncertainty budget analysis, were developed to optimize the measurement capability.

The Molecular Engineering Laboratory (MolE) applies the principles of molecular science and engineering to explore chemical systems on the molecular level. Through sophisticated computational and experimental methods, MolE develops new technologies generally applicable to high-value chemical applications engineering. Special emphasis is currently placed on molecular encapsulation of non-polar molecules, controlled drug release, stabilization and formulation of biopharmaceuticals, development of innovative eco-friendly polymerization systems, and continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing. Musychen - Multiphase Systems And Chemical Engineering
The research group MuSyChEn of Politecnico di Torino adopts methods and tools which are typical of Chemical Engineering to develop process and technologies for multiphase systems. The research activity includes several subjects, such as: development of innovative processes in chemical, pharmaceutical and textile engineering; study of materials behaviour, risk and safety in chemical processes … The investigation is always based on the study of the underlying chemical and physical processes, using the tools of thermodynamics, chemical kinetics and transport phenomena to analyze the individual steps of the process. In this context, within the group, growing importance is assuming the ability to conduct simulations on different levels (from the molecular scale to the plant scale) and effectively transfer information from one level to the next. Another aspect concerns the study of the properties and surface reactions of matter, with regard to corrosion and electrochemical phenomena affecting the industrial and biomedical fields and the conservation of cultural heritage. In the latter sector, an interesting line of research has been developed, with the aim of designing innovative monitoring systems for the assessment of atmospheric corrosion.

RENOIR: REcreating the ideal Niche: environmental control Of cell Identity in Regenerating and diseased muscles. RENOIR is a four year, European Training Network granted by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 860034. RENOIR aims to develop and implement an integrated structural PhD training programme for 13 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in the field of muscle regeneration and aging. The major objective of RENOIR research programme is to ultimately unravel, using novel and integrated biotechnological tools, the progressive decline in skeletal and cardiac muscle mass and functionality, that represents the most critical and complex features associated with human ageing and disease. MAIN OBJECTIVES- Molecular determinant of the identity of satellite cells We investigate how the different stem and progenitor cells in the muscle acquire and maintain their fate using genetic lineage tracing strategies in transgenic mice and loss/gain of function models- Environmental control of muscle homeostasis, regeneration and aging We focus on how the inflammatory, myogenic and vascular components integrate to coordinate muscle regeneration and how fibrosis develops in pathological conditions - Biomaterials and biological drugs-assisted regeneration We engineer novel biomaterials and devices to reconstruct the extra-cellular matrix and the muscle niche in vitro that can recapitulate the role of the biochemical signals in muscle regeneration CONSORTIUM RENOIR is a European Training Network that brings together 9 academic and 6 non-academic participants. 13 Beneficiaries 2 Partner Organisations

Street Food SQUARE is a non-profit organization working towards the development of best practices of street food trade/consumption/governance worldwide, by implementing projects based on four key actions. Stakeholders network building SFSA manages the online permanent forum called Street Food Global Network, so far linking 150 experts from 35 countries. Multidisciplinary scientific research Focusing on major urban areas, SFSA investigates street food’s multiple dimensions, involving natural and social scientists. 8 cities across South America were studied between 2011 and 2013. 10 more cities in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America will be covered by 2015. Mobile App development Research activities will be aided by a mobile phone app conceived to serve specialists in field surveys and monitoring activities. vendors profiles are expected to be collected by 2015. A light version of the app is developed for vendors and consumers. Multimedia production SFSA projects are documented by professional video-makers, with the aim of producing long feature documentary films, short non-profit ads and web-documentaries. SFSA partners with organizations, both public and private ones, who are interested in cooperating on a technical or financial basis to the achievement of common goals. SFSA hires consultants whose expertise and field of action suits the specific actions, tasks and goals planned in each part of the project.

Unesco Research Lab is an interdepartmental research laboratory of the Politecnico di Milano (DABC, DASTU) that operates in close relation with the objectives and aims of the Mantova Unesco Chair: study and project, linking different disciplines and technologies, for the conservation, protection, and enhancement of the architectural, territorial and ecological-environmental heritage. The Unesco Research Lab is organized in research groups that, with their respective skills, contribute to the consolidation of relations with institutions and local realities in the context of numerous research projects, since the founding of the Mantova Campus. The School of International Studies develops teaching and research activities addressing the challenges associated with the processes of globalization and European integration. All the activities feature a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. The SIS offers three full-time, two-year M.A. degrees (i.e, Lauree Magistrali): since 2006 the Master's Degree in European and International Studies; since 2016, together with the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa), the Master's Degree in International Security Studies; since 2020 theparticipates in the International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies, a 24 month Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree awarded by a consortium of four universities: University of Glasgow (UK), City Dublin University (Ireland), Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic). Teaching takes place entirely in English. The School also offers a Ph.D. programme in International Studies. Highly-selective and demanding, the Ph.D. programme promotes a broad and in-depth knowledge of the theoretical approaches of the various disciplines underpinning International Studies with the development and acquisition of analytical skills and tools needed in empirical research. The School develops multidisciplinary research activities addressing the challenges associated with the processes of globalization and European integration, as well as with international security issues.
