Nederlandse Vereniging Voor Diabetes Onderzoek

De NVDO, opgericht in 1974, is een multidisciplinaire vereniging van (basale) wetenschappers, artsen (kinderartsen, internisten, huisartsen), en medisch psychologen die onderzoek doen naar het ziektebeeld diabetes mellitus of een speciale affiniteit hebben met diabetes mellitus. Het doel van de NVDO is het bevorderen van wetenschappelijk onderzoek op het gebied van het ziektebeeld diabetes mellitus en de toepassing van hierbij verkregen resultaten in de klinische praktijk. Daarnaast wordt uitwisseling van kennis en expertise tussen leden die werkzaam zijn binnen de verschillende disciplines van diabetes mellitus onderzoek gefaciliteerd.

The Netherlands American Studies Association (NASA) is a network of scholars and researchers interested in the history, culture, and politics of the United States. It aims to promote the interdisciplinary study of the United States in the Netherlands by linking those active in this field through publications, discussion groups, seminars, and conferences. Founded in 1977, NASA is built around the cooperation of the main American Studies departments at the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Leiden, and Nijmegen, as well as the Roosevelt Study Center in Middelburg, a research and conference center on U.S. history and European-American relations, which serves as the administrative center of NASA and publishes the NASA newsletter. The Association crosses many disciplinary boundaries. NASA members are active in a range of departments, and the Association looks to extend its linkages with others in History, Literature, Sociology, Political Science, Art History, Geography, Law, Communication Studies, Women’s Studies, Popular Culture Studies, and Film Studies. The NASA is active in organizing regular conferences and seminars to bring its membership together through the year. Every spring a one-day national conference is held to bring together American Studies undergraduate and graduate students and faculty: The American Studies Day, or Amerikanistendag. These are hosted, in rotation, by one of the four American Studies programs at the universities of Amsterdam, Groningen, Leiden, and Nijmegen.

Ppep4all

Het PPEP4ALL-programma is een aanvulling op de medische behandeling. Daarin is vaak minder tijd, ruimte en aandacht voor de psychische en psychosociale gevolgen van de ziekte op het dagelijks leven. Uit onderzoek blijkt dat zelfmanagement strategieën behulpzaam zijn bij het vinden van de balans tussen wat de ziekte van je vraagt en hoe je je leven wilt leiden, waardoor de patiënt en partner betere leren omgaan met de gevolgen van de ziekte en de kwaliteit van leven positief beïnvloed kan worden. Zo'n 4,5 miljoen mensen, oftewel een kwart van de Nederlanders, hebben een of meer chronische ziekten. De meeste chronisch zieken zijn tussen de 25 en 64 jaar oud. De verwachting is dat het aantal chronisch zieken de komende jaren fors zal toenemen. De vergrijzing, betere medische zorg maar ook de ongezonde leefstijl van veel Nederlanders spelen hierbij een rol (Nationaal Kompas Volksgezondheid, maart 2013). Van deze groeiende groep wordt in toenemende mate verwacht dat zij (zo mogelijk samen met hun omgeving) een actieve rol nemen bij het omgaan met de chronische ziekte(n) en de impact daarvan op het dagelijks leven. Het Patient en Partner Educatie Programma voor Alle chronische ziekten (PPEP4ALL-programma) reikt deelnemers belangrijke vaardigheden aan om die rol op zich te kunnen nemen. Zonde, want een prothese kan de kwaliteit van leven sterk verbeteren. Daarom slaan verschillende partijen de handen ineen en richten de ProtheseAcademie op. Een plek waar kennisinstellingen, onderwijsinstellingen, zorgverleners, protheseverstrekkers, fabrikanten en zorgverzekeraars uit heel Nederland samen met de patiënt werken aan het verbeteren van de kennis over het (thuis)gebruik van arm- en beenprothesen. Sleepworks

Iedereen kan slapen. Toch? Helaas blijkt het niet zo makkelijk te zijn: 1 op de 3 leerlingen in de bovenbouw heeft last van slaapproblemen. Wij willen daar verandering in brengen, want ieder kind verdient het om zich te ontwikkelen en ontplooien zonder slaapproblemen. De pubertijd is immers al moeilijk genoeg zonder slaaptekort. Vaak komen deze slaapproblemen voort uit een gebrek aan kennis over slapen. Daarom hebben wij diverse workshops ontwikkeld voor eindexamenleerlingen, ouders en docenten. Met elkaar zorgen we dat jongeren op zijn minst weten waarom slapen zo belangrijk is. Voor SleepWorks is het heel belangrijk dat we effectief met uw tijd en geld omgaan. Daarom is alles wat wij zeggen gebaseerd op wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Om na te gaan of onze workshops het gewenste effect hebben, onderzoeken we in samenwerking met de Universiteit van Amsterdam de effectiviteit van het programma. Daarnaast passen onze workshops bij de Gezonde School aanpak (Amsterdam). De workshops zijn daarnaast te vinden in de Jeugdpreventie Wijzer van de GGD Amsterdam en het Loket Gezond Leven van de RIVM.
