Mamatoto Cloth Diapers
MamaToto is an early-stage social enterprise that provides modern cloth diapers and laundering services with delivery across Nairobi, Kenya. We plan to serve all income levels with the aim of improved sanitation and health outcomes, while saving the environment from disposable diaper waste. Parents across all income levels in Nairobi are drawn to using cloth diapers because they are gentler for baby (less rashes), safer for the environment (disposables last 500 years in landfills), and cost effective (save on continuous diaper purchases, water, gas, and waste disposal), but lack access to modern cloth diapers and proper laundering facilities to fully sanitize them and outdoor space to dry them. MamaToto provides modern cloth diapers and hygienic laundering service with delivery in Nairobi. Most parents in Nairobi rely on hand washing to launder old fashioned cloth nappies and rarely have the proper facilities such as a separate wash basin, proper soaps, hot water, clean water, or running water. Parents also struggle with outdoor space where they can hang the diapers to fully dry in the sunlight. When cloth diapers are not properly laundered they lose absorbency, deteriorate quickly, and are not fully sanitized. MamaToto provides a modern cloth diaper with an updated design that reduces leakage and a custom breathable waterproof fabric called PUL that prevents rashes. MamaToto utilizes the Nairobi Hospital's industrial washer (same machine used to wash hospital linens) that 100% sanitizes soiled diapers and transports the diapers for laundry service. Modern cloth diapers require a high upfront cost. Parents need to purchase about 20 modern cloth diapers and accessories costing approximately USD $400 and until now modern cloth diaper were not available in Kenya. MamaToto will offer a weekly rented diaper and laundering service that allows parents to spread out the cost of cloth diapers over three years.

T3 Africa
The three main problems Kenya is facing today are - poverty, unemployment, and plastic waste. Enormous piles of plastic trash lie throughout Kenya and are harming the agriculture and tourism industry. Millions of kilograms of plastic waste is generated each year most of that is in the form of plastic bottles, which Kenyans discard on the roads, fields, beaches and lakes causing serious environmental problems. With our vision to find sustainable solutions to global problems, we wish to create jobs for impoverished people alleviating poverty and simultaneously address an environmental problem. We will capitalise on the opportunities in the recycled resin and manufacture yarn and textile engineered from 100% post-consumer beverage and water bottles sourced, processed and spun into yarn exclusively made in Kenya. We will be the first of its kind with a unique transparent supply chain. This project offers a sustainable solution that reduces environmental impacts within the industry by converting waste into recycled product equal in quality to the original yarn, thread and textile. This will have remarkable savings in terms of energy and water in textile manufacturing hence providing a holistic approach to this national problem. T3 is setting up a Recycled PET (rPET) textile plant located in Athi River, Kenya where we will utilise post-consumer plastic collected all over Kenya and East Africa. The Company will be vertically integrated and use almost all of its recycled material in yarn and textile manufacturing

Kenana Knitters Ltd
Kenana Knitters is a social enterprise based in Njoro, Kenya, dedicated to empowering rural women through sustainable, fair-trade handknitting. Founded in 1998, our mission has always been simple yet powerful: to change lives stitch by stitch. What began as a small initiative to provide women with an income they could earn from home has grown into a thriving community of over 500 knitters and spinners. These women transform locally sourced, natural wool and organic cotton into unique toys, knitwear, and homeware that are loved around the world. Each piece is hand-crafted with care and creativity, carrying not just the story of the maker but also the dignity and independence that comes with meaningful work. At Kenana Knitters, we are committed to fair trade principles and environmentally responsible production. Our wool is hand-spun and hand-dyed using natural, plant-based dyes wherever possible, ensuring our products are as sustainable as they are beautiful. By creating jobs close to home, we help women balance earning an income with caring for their families, while building skills that last a lifetime. Beyond the stitches, Kenana Knitters is about community. Our knitters support one another, share their artistry, and take pride in producing work that travels far beyond the Kenyan highlands. With every purchase, customers become part of this journey—helping to create opportunities, preserve traditional crafts, and spread joy across borders. Today, Kenana Knitters is recognized internationally for its quality and heart. Our whimsical stuffed animals, stylish knitwear, and sustainable homeware are not just products—they are symbols of empowerment, resilience, and connection. From rural Kenya to homes around the world, each stitch helps knit a brighter future. At Kenana Knitters, we believe in the power of women’s hands to create change, one stitch at a time.
