Mcmanis Family Vineyards
Surrounded by lush vineyards, the McManis Family Vineyards winery is located on a 40-acre site near the town of Ripon, in California’s abundant northern interior. Constructed in 1998, the large-capacity winery is dedicated to producing high quality wines with “small winery” methods. Considered “petite” compared to the size of other facilities in the area, the winery is designed for small lot wine production, though it maintains an extensive stainless steel fermentation and storage capacity. As grapes arrive at the winery, they are introduced to two state-of-the-art grape receiving stations outfitted with Delta Stemmer-Crushers and Bucher presses; the receiving hoppers are equipped with mechanisms designed to slow the intake of grapes, gently handling the incoming fruit. All grapes for McManis Family Vineyards are received at the Ripon facility where our winemaker ensures proper care of the fruit—a necessity for producing quality wines.

Named after Dr. Pangloss, the eternal optimist in Voltaire’s novel Candide, Pangloss is dedicated to optimism as the ideal way to approach life. Located on the historic downtown Sonoma Plaza, our Tasting Lounge is an architectural showpiece and an integral part of Sonoma’s rich history. Our culinary program embraces Sonoma’s sustainable bounty from the Pacific Ocean to local farms and gardens. Pangloss Cellars is a carefully restored 122-year- old building on the town square in Sonoma where California was founded. Given our obsession with handcrafting wines using Old World techniques, our attraction to the old structure was natural and powerful. Bringing the building back to its original glory was a first step for us in forming a deep bond with our home. Supported by its centuries-old truss, the Tasting Lounge has an incredible view of the Sonoma Plaza and the Mayacamas Mountains in the distance through its 50-foot-wide glass storefront. The Tasting Lounge exudes the warmth and intimacy of a family living room. It is spacious with high ceilings and is centered by our tasting bar.

Solminer Wine
Sol-miner as in mining the "Sun" which in turn nourishes the soul. The name inspires us to discover and unearth the treasures in the soils of the California Central Coast. Our decisions have always been personal (not commercial) and involve what we call "conscious farming". As we learn about our little piece of earth and our place in it, the picture begins to widen. We've incorporated chickens, grazing sheep, the lunar calendar, biodynamic compost, preparations and teas all to support the microorganisms in the dirt and health of the vineyard. We have a feeling of connectedness as each trip around the sun gives us the chance to experience the magical process of exchange from the dirt, plants, fruit, wine, humans, sky, moon, sun and stars.
