Promontory
In the early 1980s, while hiking along Oakville’s Southwestern ridge, H. William Harlan discovered an isolated territory. The hidden expanse — ancient and untamed — moved him deeply, but remained elusive until the Harlan family finally captured it in 2008. As the second generation explored and worked with the land, they began to make discoveries of their own. At the core of this wild terrain, they found a powerful geologic convergence, which had shaped its steep, rugged topography, and created the conditions for an altogether exotic winegrowing environment. Over time they found that the dramatic landscape — just beyond the edge of the known — would slowly change them, and ultimately inspire a new endeavor: Promontory.

Harlan Estate
Founded in 1984, Harlan Estate is a winegrowing estate in the western hills of Oakville, California in the heart of the Napa Valley. From the beginning, the Harlan Estate was conceived as a “First Growth of California.” And yet, the vision of the Harlan family and team transcended the bounds of vineyard and the cellar: Founder H. William Harlan dreamed of one day elevating the human spirit through the medium of wine. Historically, art has played an essential role in humanity’s enrichment, and the family and extended family consider their endeavor in wine as an “art of man and nature.” Fine wine provides a common language that stirs the emotions and captivates the intellect; wine can transport us to another place and time.

Inglenook
Rutherford Bench, Napa Valley Creating world class wines since 1879. Drink Responsibly. The Inglenook legacy began in 1879 when Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain, wine connoisseur and entrepreneur, came to Rutherford to build a wine estate that would rival Europe’s finest. When Niebaum’s grandnephew, John Daniel, Jr. inherited the chateau and vineyards in the 1930s, Inglenook had already earned international acclaim. Francis and Eleanor Coppola purchased the property in 1975 and went to work reuniting the original vineyards and returning winemaking operations to the chateau. In 2011, after nearly 40-years worth of committed resources and resolve, they acquired Inglenook's name and trademark, making it whole once again—in presence and spirit—with a winemaking approach that now honors its present and future welfare. Situated on the summit of Howell Mountain in northeast Napa Valley at nearly 2300’ of elevation, our winery remains one of the most picturesque, highly sought-after destinations for Mountain Cabernet lovers to visit each year, though only a lucky few will score a reservation.
