About Amy Mason

Amy is a consultant at Russell Philanthropies, where she provides mission-aligned strategic organizational, management, governance, fundraising, and communications counsel to not-for-profit leaders. Her decades in the nonprofit world are characterized by passionate attunement to the unique needs of the individuals and organizations she supports. She brings heart and skill to her work facilitating transformational growth. Amy’s background working with numerous and varied nonprofits has emphasized collaborative leadership, project management, individual philanthropy, communications, strategic planning, facilitation, and coaching. With experience fostering a culture of philanthropy, optimizing board governance, enhancing board and CEO performance, and leading comprehensive fundraising campaigns, Amy’s personal mission is to make more possible for those with whom she engages. Amy has a uniquely encouraging approach to improving communications among boards, staff, and donors, and to centering the role of empathy in philanthropy. She is a lifelong learner captivated by the prospect of leveraging inclusive, trauma-informed leadership throughout her work in the world. Amy earned an undergraduate music teaching degree from The Hartt School and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Boston College. She holds a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from Marlboro College’s Center for New Leadership and a Certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from BoardSource. She is a 2019 graduate of the Snelling Center for Government’s Vermont Leadership Institute.
