Experienced Director Of Engineering with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in Facility Management (FM), Energy Procurement, Sustainability, Contract Management, Project Planning, Construction, and Mentoring. I have over 30 years of engineering and technical experience. Prior to I was a consulting engineer for several start-up firms in Minnesota designing remediation systems for contaminated sites including several Superfund sites. I then worked in insurance and risk management with CIGNA, underwriting property insurance for large engineered assets such as bridges, airports, dams, highway systems, and tunnels as well as builder's risk. In 2001, CIGNA was acquired by ACE so I joined Conectiv Energy developing new power plants in Pennsylvania. When the power industry declined (c.f. Enron) in 2003, I became Director of Facilities at Philadelphia University where I was responsible for all aspects of the facilities operations (O&M, capital projects, HR, energy, etc). In 2010, I left Phila U. and spent 18 months as Assistant Chief of Operations at Rowan University where I oversaw operation of their cogeneration plant, sustainability programs, and the planning and construction group before coming to the University of Pennsylvania. At the University of Pennsylvania, I lead the engineering and energy management functions for O&M within the Facilities and Real Estate Services division. I manage a highly skilled team of 11 engineers who collaborate with me on design of new facilities, operations, energy efficiency, sustainability, deferred maintenance, facility condition assessments, energy procurement and energy management. On the energy planning side, I manage our energy procurement, highlighted by a recent power purchase agreement for solar power. I am also responsibile for infrastructure and utility capital planning as well as play a lead role in all new construction and renovations.
