Background

About Grant Axsom

As a Level Designer, in conjunction with the procedural level generator I collaborated on, I have created hundreds of maps for the game "Due Process" and have iterated on my designs through constructive feedback from players and peers. Prototyping, white boxing, and playful experimentation are expected of me, which I handle with grace and enthusiasm. I lean heavily on my community by hosting weekly playtests of prototype content with the intent to refine and improve over time. To me, good level design means clear and consistent messaging to the player so that their expectations are never broken. Keeping players flowing smoothly through the world without needing to stop or ask why keeps them engaged and hooked. I've assisted Giant Enemy Crab at various conventions over the years. Our game, Due Process, was incredibly popular, with a line reaching as long as a two-hour wait. I talked with thousands of people, teaching them about the game, answering questions, and assisting the team in any way I could. It was a joy to hear players connect after their demo had ended, swapping info to continue playing games together after the show floor had ended. As Community Manager, I wrote development blogposts, stayed in touch with the Due Process community via Reddit, Discord, Twitter, Steam, and Facebook, and worked alongside the team to create videos and other media suited to their needs. Once it was clear Closed Alpha was upon us, I managed our email invite campaign and coordinated tests between new players every weekend. As we moved into full release, I grew the community moderation team to handle the now 20k+ users in our Discord server, equipping them with bots and other automated tools to make their lives easier.
