About Kasimu Ghandi Ibrahim
I am a medically trained physiologist (MBBS, Nigeria; PhD, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa) with over 14 years of experience in higher education, research, and academic leadership. My teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels across Medicine, Dentistry, and Allied Health Sciences, with expertise in physiology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, and nervous systems. I use active and student-centered methods, including team-based learning, blended learning, and structured clinical assessments (OSCEs/OSPEs).My research interests focus on developmental programming of metabolism, nutrigenomics, oxidative stress, and transgenerational health. I have secured over in competitive research grants and published 60 peer-reviewed papers, many in Scopus-indexed journals. I have supervised multiple MSc and PhD students to completion and continue to mentor early-career researchers.In addition to teaching and research, I bring strong leadership experience. I currently serve as Head of the Department of Basic and Clinical Medical Sciences at Zarqa University, Jordan, and previously held roles such as Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Postgraduate Coordinator, and Acting Director of a research centre in Nigeria.I am passionate about advancing evidence-based medical education, curriculum development, and collaborative research. I welcome opportunities to contribute to physiology teaching, interdisciplinary research, postgraduate supervision, and academic leadership.I have published over 60 peer-reviewed papers in physiology, nutrigenomics, and developmental programming of metabolism, with work appearing in Q1 and Q2 Scopus-indexed journals.
