About Taylor Simone

We all have a story to tell. I’m a Vancouver based film/TV professional and freelance journalist. In 2015, I became curious about the world of freelancing and digital media. I wrote my first article for VICE. Freelancing taught me how to turn stories into conversations. I like to learn in different worlds. I’m passionate about the fast-paced world of the hospitality industry which provided an excellent training ground for developing my social and problem-solving skills. My purpose is to build my career life by diversifying my skill set in various industries: media, film, cybersecurity, and tech. I was scooped in Vancouver’s film industry while taking a computer science course. I had the privilege of fantastic mentorship while gaining extensive experience in the motion picture industry as a film and television dispatcher for IATSE Local 891. I crew for various feature motion pictures and television shows shooting in British Columbia such as Supernatural, Riverdale, Batwoman, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Nancy Drew, Firefly Lane, Zoeys Extraordinary Playlist, Supergirl, Away, Mighty Ducks, Shogun, The Last of US, Pachinko, The Mother, Sonic 2, Jurassic Dominion, and more. My film career interests include how technology is transforming the film and television sector. In the future, I want my own production company and to direct my first documentary. My publishing experiences include immersive journalism, columns, op-eds, essays, poetry, and contributing to books, radio, podcasts, live tv, and sometimes working with pen names. To develop myself as a writer I like to travel and see various cultures. For most of 2022 and 2023 I was based in London and Istanbul. I was a visiting journalist at BBC studio in February 2023 for my work in Canada, London, Germany, Turkiye, UAE, and visiting journalist at Al Jazeera in February 2024. I’m always looking to expand my international network. I attended my first security conference in July 2023 for OSCE PA — the largest European regional intergovernmental security organization followed by Milipol in Doha, Qatar to expand my network in cybersecurity. My portfolio and work gives audiences an upfront view on current events as they happen. My passion with international storytelling is to collaborate and work with people impacted by conflict zones.
