Brussels Philharmonic
The world needs symphonic music. And symphonic music needs the world.” That is the firm belief of the Brussels Philharmonic. As a symphony orchestra founded in 1935 under the auspices of the Belgian public broadcaster, unveiling the symphonic world as best we can is deep in our DNA. By innovating while maintaining full respect for the value of the past, we keep the symphonic music of the past, present and future relevant and inspiring – for ourselves and all of society. The vision of music director, Kazushi Ono, an experienced conductor whose reputation crosses continents, cultures and genres, overlaps in so many ways with that of the orchestra: the authenticity with which the great repertoire is kept alive, the permanent quest for innovation and evolution, the commitment to giving the music of today and tomorrow a central role, and the passion for sharing the love of symphonic music widely and generously. That sharing takes place first and foremost in our home port at Flagey, as well as on the major stages and at festivals in Flanders. The orchestra’s international reputation comes to the fore in its specialisation in recording soundtracks (including the Oscar-winning music for ‘The Artist’), the successful recordings for labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, and the ambitious projects on prestigious stages around the world (Carnegie Hall, New York, Philharmonie de Paris, Musikverein Wien, Cadogan Hall, London). Brussels Philharmonic is an institution of the Flemish Community.

B'rock Orchestra
B’Rock Orchestra has the Baroque era at heart. Our intuitive, ambitious and connective approach has made us one of today’s most successful and forward-thinking period orchestras. In pursuit of the new, with a desire for encounter and exchange, we actively seek collaboration with visionary artists. They are frontrunners in the world of music, theatre, dance and the visual arts. They are our Artistic Family. Collectively, we research, associate and create intriguing experiences for a broad audience. We open up a dialogue with the connoisseur and the curious. On our period instruments, we explore five centuries of music in opera, oratorio and instrumental music. Presenting an excellent performance of a Baroque masterpiece is as precious to us as the world première of contemporary music in a surprising context. The recently founded B’Rock Vocal Consort gives us the freedom to expand our repertoire with like-minded singers. As we resonate with the world around us, we feel a responsibility to be an organic part of society and contribute to a meaningful discussion. Within our artistic concepts, we address relevant topics such as colonialism and exploitation, the relationship of humanity and nature, or the role of womxn in art throughout the centuries. The desire to deepen the connection with our audiences, and with artists of the future, is the driving force behind the B’Rock Encounters. In this ever-growing series, we create space for participative adventures and the sharing of experience, insight, and knowledge. With strong Flemish roots, and Ghent as our home base, B’Rock Orchestra is active throughout the world. We are a Creative Associate at deSingel and have long-term partnerships with OperaBallet Vlaanderen, KASK Conservatorium Gent, Muziektheater Transparant and Opéra de Rouen. Oxalys Ensemble
Oxalys is a chamber music ensemble, that was founded in 1993 by a group of ambitious young students from the Brussels Conservatory of Music. Since then the ensemble has developed into one of the most esteemed professional chamber music groups in Flanders. It performs on some of the world's finest platforms and plays at the most prestigious festivals. Each of these former students has now also built up an international career of their own. Yet they still like to travel back to their home base in Brussels from their various European capitals to continue work on their shared project, Oxalys. The ensemble's primary aim is to tell the European cultural story since the Enlightenment, at the highest possible standard and with the greatest directness. They also wish to give a musical interpretation of the connections and contrasts across borders and eras that are found in this story. But in addition to this philosophical aspect, the beating heart of Oxalys remains the pure pleasure of performing and their absolute love of music: all music.

Daft Music Studios
DAFT MUSIC STUDIOS Recording // Mix // Rehearsal // Preproduction // Writers camps Daft Music Studios is one of Europe’s largest residential recording facilities and a truly awe-inspiring place to make a record. The concept for the studio is ‘a creative residence immersed in nature’ and as is evident immediately, Daft is so much more than a recording studio. So much so in fact, that you may never want to leave! The large control room, set on the first floor, is centered around a Neve 5088 (with the capacity to record digitally using ProTools HDX or to tape using the 24 track Struder A820), and looks down over the vast day lit 200sqm recording hall. Combined with multiple booths and smaller recording rooms, you can see why Daft is popular for every type of session imaginable, from symphony orchestras to vocals, rehearsals to mixing, from rock to pop to jazz. As you’d expect from a studio of this size, the outboard and microphone collections are incredible, as is the backline on offer. Adjacent to the studio is the Daft Hotel which offers boutique accommodation for crews of up to 40. Add this to the studios capacity to run 8 writing rooms with mobile setups, you can see why Daft is super popular for writing camps. And that’s before we even get to the onsite swimming pool, sauna, bar, home cinema and vintage gaming corner. See what we mean about wanting to stay forever?
