The AGS is the official provincial geological survey of Alberta. AGS is responsible for describing the geology and resources in the province and provides information and knowledge to help resolve land use, environmental, public health, and safety issues related to geosciences.

We manage a pot of money Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada gave us to support important advances in three key agtech focus areas: 1. Automation and robotics 2. Data integration, analysis and decision-making, and 3. Smart farms The way it works is that individuals or organisations with big agricultural or agri-food innovation ideas submit proposals when we launch a competitive process. To be considered, groups must: • Be entirely Canadian and commit to keeping their technology in Canada (remember what the “C” in CAAIN stands for) and • Include at least two small or medium enterprises (SMEs are defined as companies with no more than 499 employees and revenue not exceeding $50M…after all, one of our purposes is to stimulate economic growth) But wait…there’s more. As our name suggests, CAAIN is a network. That means we are about more than simply funding worthy innovative agri-food research initiatives. Above all, we are a connector. CCNB-INNOV is the applied research network of the New Brunswick Community College (CCNB). Since 2005, we have supported businesses and organizations across Atlantic Canada through applied research, technical assistance, and access to advanced technologies. Created in response to industrial demand in New Brunswick, INNOV was initially built around three core divisions: Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Materials, and Bioeconomy. Over the years, INNOV joined strategic innovation networks such as Springboard Atlantic (2008) and became eligible for NSERC funding in 2009. Since 2011, our research network has ranked annually among the Top 50 research colleges in Canada, including six years in the Top 25. In 2019, the Advanced Manufacturing division achieved the prestigious Technology Access Centre (TAC) designation from NSERC through Tech-Access Canada, becoming the only TAC in New Brunswick. Today, INNOV completes more than 60 industrial contracts every year, powered by a team of industry-trained experts and specialists. Centre For Biodiversity Genomics
The Centre for Biodiversity Genomics (CBG) utilizes sequence diversity in standardized gene regions (DNA barcodes) to facilitate rapid, cost-effective, and precise species identification. This innovative approach, along with technologies like eDNA and metabarcoding, is revolutionizing our ability to comprehend and safeguard biodiversity. The CBG is comprised of five operational units: Analytics Unit: This unit handles specimen digitization, image analysis, and sequence data validation. It also aids researchers in creating continuous species maps and applying statistical models to complex datasets. Collections Unit: Responsible for acquiring samples and specimens from field collections, natural history museums, and a network of collaborators. The unit digitizes and processes these samples for imaging, barcoding, and metabarcoding, and stores them in CBG’s extensive natural history collection. Genomics Unit: A cutting-edge laboratory with a team specializing in DNA barcode-based species identification services and technologies, promoting the application and adoption of DNA barcoding. Informatics Unit: Manages the Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD) and mBRAVE via a state-of-the-art data centre with over 1,250 processors and 325 terabytes of storage. The team leverages advanced computational infrastructure and expertise in computer science, bioinformatics, and database analysis to support global DNA barcode research. Taxonomy Unit: Curates DNA barcode records on the Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD), updating scientific names and taxonomic hierarchies. The unit also validates and refines the taxonomic assignments of barcoded specimen records.

Founded in 1976, the Churchill Northern Studies Centre is an independent, non-profit research and education facility located 23 km east of the town of Churchill, Manitoba. We provide accommodations, meals, equipment rentals, and logistical support to scientific researchers working on a diverse range of topics of interest to northern science. In addition to research, the Centre facilitates a wide range of educational programming ranging from general interest courses for the visiting public to university credit courses for students. The Centre is ideally situated along the Hudson Bay seacoast at the meeting of three major biomes: marine, northern boreal forest, and tundra. To the east lies Wapusk National Park which protects the inland denning area of the polar bear. Farther to the southeast lies the Hudson Bay Lowland, the largest peatland in North America. Because of this complex of biomes, one can see a tremendous diversity of plants, birds, mammals and human cultures.
