Lightcom The Lighthouse Consortium On Obesity Management

The Lighthouse Consortium on Obesity Management (LightCOM) combines expertise from leading research environments in Denmark and the United Kingdom with the vision of providing a strong scientific foundation for obesity management in the future. The overall aim of LightCOM is to improve health and quality of life through solutions that can contribute to lasting changes, including long-term weight loss. The LightCOM project is supported by a DKK 179,788,407 grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation (Grant number: NNF22SA0080921). The project started on 1 January 2023.

Skywalker

Exploring Robotics in Space Join us on an exciting journey as we delve into the potential of robotics in space! This page will document our innovative ESA Academy Experiment, which involves creating a microgravity platform equipped with a robotic arm. Our goal is to enable the robotic arm to attach to anchor points and maneuver both itself and the platform. This will be achieved through manual programming and reinforcement learning techniques. The experiment is in collaboration with Advanced Robotics & AI group (ARAI) and AAU Space Robotics Lab lead by Simon Bøgh at the Department of Electronic Systems and has support from the ESA Academy. It is being carried out by 4th and 10th semester students at Aalborg University, all of whom are also part of the ESA Academy program. Solklar V Sander Sieuwerts

Under the flag of my company Solklar, I (Sander Sieuwerts) provide consultancy services within my areas of expertise. My strongest background is in food microbiology and fermentation, among others from obtaining a PhD at Wageningen University and >10 years professional scientific experience, but also out of personal curiosity. Educated as biologist and having worked as food product developer, project manager and director both in multinationals and in startups, however, my experience is much broader. And so are my interests: on one hand I love diving deep into a scientific topic and on the other hand I like leading a project, or simply help others with the knowledge I already have. What can I possibly help with? • Microbiology: microbial physiology, fermentation, microbial cultures, pro- and prebiotics, shelf-life, food safety, spoilage, biotechnology, genetics and genomics of bacteria, yeasts and molds. • Microbes and their relation to enzymes, ingredients and process conditions, for example related to sugar reduction, improved texture, higher nutrition and sustainability. • Admin: literature studies, understandable dissemination, patent assessment and preparation, grant applications, scientific and non-scientific publications, some insight in EU regulatory body around food and microbes. If you come with a question that is not quite my cup of tea, I might know someone else more suitable for the job. PS: did you know that the Danish word ‘solklar’ means ‘sunny’ and that ‘soleklar’ means ‘clear/obvious’? Brightness, warmth, transparency and clarity are some of my strongest values and, hence, I apply these in my private life and to the way I work for and with others.

Klinisk epidemiologi er en vigtig nøglefunktion i forhold til at kunne drive evidensbaseret patientbehandling i et moderne sundhedsvæsen, og er derfor en central funktion på et universitetshospital. Klinisk epidemiologi er den ekspertdisciplin, som har patienten som omdrejningspunkt, og som analyserer patienters prognose, dvs. vi undersøger hvilke faktorer, der har betydning for eksempelvis patienthelbredelse og -død. Afgørende faktorer for patienters prognose er diagnostik og behandling, og derfor udgør disse områder hovedhjørnestenen inden for klinisk epidemiologisk analyse. Forskningen og forskeruddannelse ved centeret udgår fra Forskningsenheden for Klinisk Epidemiologi. Vi udøver klinisk epidemiologisk forskning på internationalt niveau i samarbejde med lokale, regionale, nationale og internationale forskere og forskningsinstitutioner. Forskningsenheden bidrager med en række af internationale publikationer årligt og indhenter eksterne forskningsbevillinger. Gogreen Research Project

The GOGREEN project challenges the presumption that governments are better suited than users, citizens, private firms, and civil society organizations to generate green solutions that protect our climate, natural resources, and biodiversity. Therefore, the focus is on the strength of local partnerships, the constellation of governance factors, and the importance of local arenas for co-creation to create change. To examine this, GOGREEN employs an innovative research strategy that invites local teams from 28 different countries to contribute with a total of 36 case studies of local co-creation of green transitions. Based on this research it will provide a solid foundation for improving the governance of green transitions, complementing technical knowledge about how to build a sustainable future. Con Amore - Center On Autobiographical Memory Research

Center on Autobiographical Memory Research [CON AMORE] was a Center of Excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation (DNRF) for the period of 2010-2019 to study autobiographical memory. After the generous grant from the DNRF was terminated, we have continued our research and center activities on the basis of other funding sources. Our interests still center on the same overall theme of autobiographical memory. We view autobiographical memory as a neurocognitive (brain/mind) system for consciously recollecting events in the personal past, by combining and extending more basic systems in constructing mental representations of personal events. Evolutionarily, autobiographical memory is central for the ability to participate in complex social systems. Simple (associative) forms of autobiographical remembering are hypothesized to also operate in non-human animals, counter to dominant views. We aim to develop an understanding of autobiographical memory that integrates research from disparate fields and places it in a greater interdisciplinary context with the goal of specifying its characteristics in healthy cognition, its dysfunctional qualities in specific mental disorders, its development across the life span and how it may differ across cultures. We pursue these questions through interrelated research projects. We examine mental time travel when it is involuntary – that is, it takes place with no executive control. We study cultural-cognitive structures in the organization of subjective time. We study the development of autobiographical memory in infancy and childhood. We extend our research on autobiographical memory in healthy individuals to account for dysfunctional effects in prominent clinical disorders, notably depression and anxiety, and impaired autobiographical memory in dementia. Recently we have become interested in expanding our research to the fields of eyewitness testimony, consumer behavior, as well as moral psychology.

DRISP - Danish Institute for Suicide Prevention er en selvfinansierende enhed forankret i Region Hovedstaden Psykiatri. Vores hovedformål er at fremme selvmordsforebyggelse gennem forskningsbaserede studier, videreformidling og implementering. DRISP udfører evidensbaseret forskning, overvåger udviklingen af selvmordsforsøg og selvmord i Danmark. Vi udvikler også undervisningsmateriale til selvmordsforebyggelse. Selvmord skyldes sjældent en enkelt årsag, men er tit et sammenfald af flere forhold, som har relation til sociale, psykologiske, psykiske, fysiske eller endda biologiske faktorer. Forskning til forståelse og forebyggelse af selvmord bør derfor stræbe efter at adressere disse faktorer. In English: DRISP - Danish Institute for Suicide Prevention is a self-financed unit in Mental Health services in the Capital Region of Denmark. Our main aim of the Program is to conduct research evaluating suicide preventive initiatives, such as treatment for people at risk of suicide and restriction of access to means of suicide. We survey trends in suicidal behavior in Denmark and develop teaching material for the suicide preventive clinics.

Microstructure And Plasticity Group

The MaP group is a research lab based in the Captial Region of Denmark near Copenhagen. We aim to achieve a fundamental understanding of brain structure and its plasticity at various levels as well as how it encode brain function. This ranges from studying isolated tissue compartments, such as microstructures including cellular spaces, neurons, and cell membranes, to visualizing and statistically analyzing whole brain connectivity networks. The goal is to understand and to predict the impact of these structures and networks on both normal and disrupted brain function. To achive our goal we create a translational holistic 3D view of the brain that span many anatomical length scales by combining pre- and clinical MRI, X-ray Nano Holotomogray (XNH) and Light-Sheet microscopic imaging.
