Mental illness runs in families. The FAMILY consortium aims to improve the life of mentally-ill persons with novel prediction models that are based on better understanding the mechanisms of intergenerational transmission of mental illness. The objectives are to improve causal understanding and gain prediction power from the family context by the innovative combination of statistical modelling of genetically informed designs, causal inference, multimodal and multilevel normative prediction, and molecular mapping, brought by world-leading neuroscientific expertise of the consortium, and address key bioethical and social issues raised by the concept of intergenerational risk transmission and risk prediction. Hiervoor worden stage-/ afstudeeropdrachten, interne projecten, minoren of school projecten ingezet. De studenten worden actief ondersteund door een vast team van ingenieurs. Dit is een multidisciplinair team met als achtergrond mechatronica, werktuigbouwkunde procestechniek en industrieel product ontwerpen. Hierdoor wordt resultaat op het vraagstuk gewaarborgd.

De Stichting Vissenbescherming is opgericht in om mensen diervriendelijker en respectvoller om te laten gaan met vissen en andere in het water levende dieren. De Stichting verstrekt hiertoe wetenschappelijk onderbouwde informatie over het bewustzijn, het gedrag en de pijnbeleving van vissen. Ze probeert door middel van goede informatie en regelgeving de diervriendelijke behandeling van vissen te bevorderen. Met het magazine VISinZICHT tracht de Stichting Vissenbescherming een breed publiek te informeren en sensibiliseren omtrent het welzijn en leefmilieu van de vissen, met speciale aandacht voor zeevisserij, viskweek, sportvisserij en vermaak met vissen. Constructing The Limes

This project is about borders, in particular the border of the Roman Empire, the so-called Lower German Limes. In this project we not only investigate the impact of this border on migration and the import of goods and crops in antiquity, but also focus on how the limes becomes visible as cultural heritage today, and how it has influenced our contemporary views on borders. This project is funded by NWO.
